our chalet (sleeps up to 10) Chalet La Cascade in the charming village of Samoens is one of four, three-level chalet apartments built in 2006 by local artisans in typical Savoyard style. This self catering chalet has been carefully designed and equipped to provide the perfect base to enjoy this delightful resort in the French Alps. Accommodation - Ground Floor Luxury Kitchen. Meet & Greet - Pat or Sue will meet you at the chalet, hand over the key and explain all you need to know. Contact them during your stay if you have any problems. A welcome pack, giving you the latest info, will be sent to you before you arrive. All linen and towels will be provided, and beds will be made up. Guides and other information about the area are available in the chalet. There is no smoking in the chalet and pets are not accommodated. Summer in Samoens The summer pleasures of Samoens are almost unknown to the British market. Enjoy a wide range of summer activities in stunning mountain scenery Getting There By car: Ferry or tunnel to France Autoroute to Cluses - 8 hours by Toll Road 12 Miles to Samoens - easy access road - only a couple of hair-pin bends! By plane: Plane to Geneva by Easyjet BA/Aer Lingus then either : Transfer to Samoens by bus/taxi or Hire a car at airport - under 1 hour drive Alternatively fly to Chambery - 1.5 hours away By train: There are a number of options to get from London to Cluses by train usually involving one change - fastest time under 9 hours. Bus/taxi to Samoens About our region All village facilities are an easy walk from the chalet. The level footpath into the village used to be the railway line between Annemasse and Sixt fer a Cheval. The old railway station is now the tourist office. Ski bus - 2 minutes' walk. Supermarket - 6 minutes' walk. Nearest pub - Irish, of course - 7 minutes' walk. Glorious walks from the doorstep. 10 minutes walk to the lovely town square with its stone covered market now used for free entertainment. Great range of restaurants catering for gourmets and gourmands alike. Enjoy the pavement cafes in the pedestrianised centre of the village. Shops within 10 minutes walk - patisseries, boulangeries, regional produce, winter and summer sports, hire of skis, quad bikes, cross-country bikes etc. Large Wednesday market.. Swimming and other summer activities - 20 minute walk. Samoens is an easy 12 mile drive from Cluses at all times of year. The highest point on the road is only 800 meters. Cluses has a TGV railway station and is on the Autoroute Blanche to Geneva and the Channel. Be skiing in Morzine, Megeve or Chamonix within an hour.. Visit Geneva - less than an hour away. Historic Annecy can be reached either by autoroute or, more spectacularly, via a mountain col. Italy is just over an hour away via the Mont Blanc tunnel. The mediaeval walled town of Yvoire makes a great day out. Why not take a boat to Lausanne across Lake Geneva?
