Whether to scale Mont Blanc or one of the other summits, to join the climbing school, or to establish a base for mountain walking or biking, Les Houches, thanks to its privileged position at the foot of Mont Blanc, is a meeting point for lovers of open spaces. itineraries to Mountain Biking: Numerous trails to be explored. Paragliding: Learn to fly with experienced instructors. Local Attractions: Ride one of the highest cable cars in the world to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi (3842m) and marvel at the panoramic views of Mont Blanc and the Alps. Mer de Glace: Take the funicular railway to Montenvers and visit the ice grottos carved in the sweeping glacier of the Mer de Glace, taking in the spectacular views of the Chamonix valley. more enjoyable we can arrange the following if required: For detailed information on winter Please Click Here Les Houches (Altitude 1900m): The ski area of Les Houches consists mainly of green, blue end red runs, ideal for beginners and intermediates. For the more adventurous there is the confusingly named "La Verte du Kandahar", a mythical black run, part of the World Cup circuit considered by some of the greatest names in Alpine skiing as the most beautiful downhill piste in the world. Le Brévent/La Flégère (Altitude: 2525m): These slopes are some of the most exceptional sites in the Alps. It's sunny exposition, facing the Mont Blanc range, offers an incredible panoramic view. It's pistes are suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all categories and levels of expertise. Accessible via the Chamonix - Plan Praz gondolas or by the Flégère cable car. Les Grands Montets (Altitude: 3233m): The exceptional vertical drops and famous pistes have given the Grands Montets it's reputation as a world famous ski area the upper sections of which are located on a glacier. The length of pistes and their vertical drop make it a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Le Tour (Altitude: 2270m): Novices and sportsmen, skiers and snowboarders alike will find this area a magnificent playground, a vast sun- soaked resort offering wide and varied pistes. The gentle slopes of the Charamillon area or the Vallorcine descents, where experts can improve their techniques on longer runs through marvelous pine forests. Other Ski Areas: A short drive out of the Valley
approximately 40 mins takes you to the combined ski areas
of St Gervais and Megève. There is also the ski area of
Les Contamines, renowned for it's excellent snow record.
We can also organise a days skiing in Italy in the resort
of Courmayeur (30 mins via the Mont Blanc tunnel). Situated at an altitude of 1300m, Chalet Bergerie overlooks the pretty alpine village of Les Houches, at the entrance to the Chamonix valley, making it the ideal location for both winter and summer activity holidays alike.
