About our region

Winter

For skiers, Méribel-Village and Les Allues are central to the whole of Les Trois Vallées area, offering over 200 lifts and over 600kms of pistes. It is the largest ski area in the world

In the Méribel valley alone there are 94 miles of groomed pistes, and 17 miles of itineraries. Skiing is suitable for all abilities with 11 green runs, 33 blue, 21 red 9 black and two great snowboard areas and a fun park.

Les Allues is linked by the Olympé gondola, which connects you to the whole area. To ski home to Les Allues in one decent, start from the top of Roc de Fer at 2294m, and then either take the blue 'Escargot' piste followed by the pretty 'Villages' run, or (for good skiers only!) take the sensational long marked off-piste itinerary all the way to the chalet door. Alternatively you can come home from Meribel on the gondola to Les Allues, or take the free ski bus.

Méribel-Village has its own chair-lift (3 minutes from the apartment door) which connects straight into the Altiport area, from where you can ski the whole Méribel area, or take the chairlift to Courchevel. Coming home, you can ski from the top of Mt. Saulire at 2760m in one decent - all the way back on red or blue runs. The blue piste into the village ('Lapin') is maintained in pristine condition by snow canons. Or you can take the free bus back to Méribel-Village. (Runs 0800 - 0030).

However, if you have your own car you can explore this vast area to the full by choosing different start points all within 5-10 minutes. Linked ski areas to the Meribel-Mottaret Valley are, Courchevel, La Tania, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and the newly opened 4th area, the Orelle valley.

For The Non-Skier

If skiing isn't necessarily your top priority there are a host of other activities - even in winter - such as Huskie sled riding, snow shoe walking, swimming, skating on the Olympic ice rink, rock-climbing, snow-biking, paragliding, mountain flying and much more, plus a great range of shops to wander around in the villages. A free shuttle bus and gondola lift operate from early morning until late evening linking Méribel Village & Les Allues to the main town of Méribel, just 2 kms from Méribel Village and a pretty10 minute ride to Les Allues.

There is also a walker's pass available for you to experience the views at the top of the mountains and enjoy a lunch in paradise. There are a number of marked ‘walks’ covering the whole Trois Vallées area. Maps available from the Tourist Office.
