Pech de Gary near Castanet

One bedroomed apartment, sleeps 2 + 1/2 children

Situated on top of the ‘pech’ (hillside) above the hamlet of Castanet, surrounded by fields and lovely views over woods and valleys, Pech de Gary is a self – contained, ground floor one bedroom apartment, attached to a 19th century converted farmhouse, with a 12m x 4m pool.

Castanet is located in the north east corner of Tarn et Garonne department (82), very close to the border with Aveyron department (12).

The gite is ideally suited for a couple, or a couple with one or two children, looking for good quality, affordable accommodation in this lovely, unspoiled part of south west France.

Pech de Gary is set in 5 acres of gardens, fields, woods and an orchard and provides total seclusion, privacy and tranquillity – the nearest neighbours are over 200m in one direction and 1km in the other!

The 12m x 4m decked pool receives abundant sunshine all day long and sunloungers, poolside chairs and a large parasol are provided to guests FOC; guests have exclusive use of the pool during their stay.

There are also plenty of shady areas in the grounds for relaxing with a book or a bottle or two of wine!

There is a large parking area in front of the main house within the grounds, with easy access from the adjacent lane, which is, in fact, part of the famous GR 36 walking trail.

Use of computer with Broadband Internet access is available in the main house for a small fee.

Gîte Accommodation

Bedroom: large and bright, with a double bed and a single bed, bedside tables with lamps, single wardrobe with full length mirror, tiled floor with rugs, separate mobile hanging rail and a dressing table with mirror and 3 large drawers.

Second door off the bedroom, which opens directly onto the garden and nearby pool area.

Bed linen is provided FOC, as are bathroom towels; pool towels can be rented at £2 per person/per week.

Kitchen/Salon area: Spacious, bright and fully equipped.

Salon area: large 3 seater divan, which converts to a double bed in seconds, additional 2 seater divan, 2 other chairs + coffee table, dining table + 4 chairs, cd/radio/cassette player, DVD player with monitor.

Kitchen area: second door opens onto shady terrace which is lovely to sit on and relax or take meals – outdoor table and chairs are provided.

All necessary cutlery, crockery, pots and pans are provided and there is plenty of cupboard storage space; also provided are the following:- fridge, microwave, 3 ring gas hob, oven, kettle, toaster and cafetier.

In an adjacent room (separate from gite), there is a washing machine and iron + ironing board; also an outside washing line + pegs.

Bathroom: Shower, basin + cupboard, towel rails; separate loo.

Nearest towns and villages

Monteils (4 kms) – lovely village beside the Aveyron river
with baker, mini- market, post office and 2 bars/restaurants.

Najac (7 kms) – stunning castle, shops, bars, restaurants
and Sunday market.

Parisot (9 kms) – Parisot  Lac, baker, mini-market,
restaurant, pharmacy and post office.

Villefranche de Rouergue (15 kms) – lovely Bastide town
with all necessary shops, banks, bars and restaurants and
a huge open air market every Thursday morning during the
summer.

St.Antonin de Noble Val (25 kms) – pretty old town set in
the spectacular Aveyron gorges with shops, bars/
restaurants and a Sunday market. The movie
“Charlotte Grey” was filmed in and around here a few years
ago.

The famous towns of Cordes and Albi, the latter with its
magnificent cathedral and Toulouse -Lautrec museum are
30 mins and 45 mins away, respectively.

Getting there

Rodez airport is 1 hour away, served by Ryanair; Toulouse
airport is 1½ hours away and served by BA, KLM and
Easyjet amongst others.

If coming by road, come off the A20 autoroute at Caussade
and then through Septfonds, Caylus and Parisot to Castanet,
where there are signs for Pech de Gary.

Castanet is approximately 10 hours driving time from Calais.
