About
our region The
converted and fully restored stone built barn, set within
an acre of grounds, is situated approximately 8 km from
St Antonin Noble Val, a wonderful medieval market town
with its amazing architecture and fabulous Sunday market.
This beautiful and as yet undiscovered area of south-west France is steeped in history and offers a quiet relaxing holiday for those interested in wonderful scenery, unspoilt French charm and excellent food and drink. Peace and tranquility surround
you, but for those more active, there are many sporting
activities nearby including tennis, fishing, pot-holing,
rock-climbing and horse riding. Corde sur Ciel, Villefranche and
Caylus are all easily accessible, so this is an ideal
place to explore the bustling markets and Bastide towns
with their amazing architecture and traditional
restaurants. As well as the nearby medieval villages and
towns, there are châteaux, abbeys, churches and
magnificent natural sites of outstanding beauty; whether
it be wooded valleys or the meandering Aveyron with its
dramatic gorges. The property has its original vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and pastel colours throughout. This is the perfect place for two or three people to take a relaxing holiday, whatever the time of year. It is suitable for infants, with a cot provided, but not for children under the age of ten due to steep internal staircase. Initial access to
the property is through the front door which is at the
top of the external stone staircase. Here, Open plan kitchen area which is well equipped with a fridge, cooker and dishwasher. You will also find all the items you may need for your in-house catering which, with the wonderful fresh produce available from the local markets, is one of the delights of so many of the visitors to this area. The large lounge
area is
comfortably furnished with a TV for An internal staircase leads down to the bedroom area where there is: Bedroom 1, a double bedroom. Bedroom 2, a small room with a
single bed. Bathroom with toilet, bath and a cupboard which houses the washing machine. The private swimming pool (8m x 4m ), with shaded sun terrace, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Aveyron cliffs and valley. It is ideal for enjoying a drink or a good book and watching the butterflies as they circle the adjoining meadowland, also belonging to the property. electricity. With arrivals on Fridays you can often take advantage of considerably cheaper fares. Cante Gril is approximately a day's drive from the Channel Ports and only 1 hour from Toulouse airport, which has daily flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Southampton, Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and numerous flights from regional airports connecting with Amsterdam or Brussels and then onwards to Toulouse. Rodez airport is just 75 minutes away and is served by Ryanair, as is Carcassonne, which is just an hour south of Toulouse. The area is
ideal walking country, and rail trips can be taken to
many destinations. Golf is available at Albi (a
delightful 18 hole course). An afternoon's excursion by
canoe through the Aveyron Gorge is also considered a
'must' by nearly all guests.
