Lovely conversion of a farmhouse property with swimming pool set in extensive grounds and with excellent facilities for infants and children

Mille Founs sits on one of the region's highest points and commands spectacular views for hundreds of miles to the south. Surrounded by rolling countryside and woodland, Mille Founs offers total privacy and relaxation in a unique location.

The property is 4 km from the charming village of Verfeil-Sur-Seye, which has its own bakery, bar and village store, and about 13 km from the medieval town of St Antonin Noble Val with its amazing architecture and renowned Sunday market.

This beautiful and as yet undiscovered area of south-west France is steeped in history and offers a quiet relaxing holiday for those interested in wonderful scenery, unspoilt French charm and excellent food and drink.

Peace and tranquility surround you, but for those more active, there are many sporting activities nearby including tennis, fishing, pot-holing, rock-climbing and horse riding. The area is ideal walking country, and rail trips can be taken to many destinations. Golf is available at Albi (a delightful 18 hole course), where there is also a water park for children. An afternoon's excursion by canoe through the Aveyron Gorge is also considered a 'must' by nearly all guests.

Within short driving distances there are a number of fascinating towns and villages including Albi, Cahors, Penne and Bruniquel, all of which are well worth a visit. As well as the nearby medieval villages and bastide towns, there are châteaux, abbeys, churches and magnificent natural sites of outstanding beauty; whether it be wooded valleys or the meandering Aveyron with its dramatic gorges.

About our property (sleeps 6)

Mille Founs is a sympathetic conversion of an old farmhouse and adjoining barn dating back many centuries, with wonderful original exposed oak beams, chestnut floors and stonework. The 3 large bedrooms are arranged over 3 floors in the farmhouse, while the living areas and kitchen are situated in the spacious, open-plan converted barn with its impressive beamed roof structure.

The house has no neighbours nearby, offering total seclusion and tranquility with stunning views.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and food processor, as well as an abundance of all the cooking untensils needed to cook the delicious local produce.

There is a large dining table to sit round with friends and a glass of wine.

At the other end of the barn is the comfortable living room area, with large sofas and a wood burning stove.

There is also another sitting area on the mezzanine floor, equipped with a TV/ video.

With numerous videos for children, lots of books for all ages and some family games.

The three comfortable bedrooms all enjoy exposed ancient oak beams, stonework and panoramic views.

Bedroom 1, a double bedded room, is on the ground floor with French windows to the terrace, and has a full en-suite bathroom.

A full bathroom is also on this floor.

On the first floor are:

Bedroom 2, a double bedded room.

Shower room and toilet complete with an original stone evier.

Above this in the former pigeonnier is:

Bedroom 3, a large twin bedded room with a vaulted ceiling.

Outside, the secluded hill-top private fenced pool is close by and measures 10m x 5m with Roman steps and is a constant depth of 1.3m. The pool area has sun loungers for all, parasols arranged around the pool terrace for total relaxation and sunbathing. Pool toys are also provided for children and the pool area is fenced and gated for safety. There is an external terrace in front of the house with table and benches for dining al fresco along with a barbecue.

With many trees in the grounds, there are lots of shady spots for guests to sit and enjoy a good book. The extensive grounds and surrounding countryside offer plenty of opportunities for walks and nature lovers will be amazed by the varieties of wild flowers, butterflies, and birds which fill this unspoilt corner of France.

We are pleased to welcome infants and children. The owners have 2 children of their own, who delight in being able to play safely in the fields around the house, collecting flowers, and watching animals with the freedom to run about untroubled by traffic or other people.

Available if required, are a cot, high chair etc.

Prices and booking information

Arrivals are on Thursdays when cross channel fares are normally cheaper and there is less conjestion on the roads.

Linen, hand and bath towels are provided. Gas and electricity are included. This property is available for long winter lets. (Please contact us for a quotation).

Getting there

Mille Founs is approximately a day's drive from the Channel Ports and only 1 hour from Toulouse airport, which has daily flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Southampton, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and numerous flights from regional airports connecting with Amsterdam or Brussels and then onwards to Toulouse. Rodez airport is just 75 minutes away and is served by Ryanair, as is Carcassonne, just an hour south of Toulouse.
