  About our region

'Les Gravasses' is located between Tanus and the tiny hamlet of Crespin. It lies in a relatively undiscovered part of France away from the well-worn tourist track. Situated at the end of a country lane, the peace and quiet at 'Les Gravasses' is only disturbed by the odd farm vehicle as it passes by. Nearby, a track leads down to a vast, picturesque lake with shady spots for picnics.

Around the farmhouse, figs, apples, mirabelles and walnuts are abundant in the autumn months and the hedgerows are rich with blackberries. And above all, the panoramic views are remarkable. You'll surely remember your holiday at 'Les Gravasses' for the soaring eagles, harriers, buzzards and kites; the unexpected glimpses of the distant Pyrénées during the day; and the lack of light pollution at night prompting you to star-gaze and satellite-spot!

The nearest Tourist Information Office is in Tanus and has up-to-date leaflets on local festivities and attractions. There are also many adventure activities locally, such as 'Cap Decouverte', a huge new adventure park only 25 mins away. Kayaking on the Tarn or Viaur, trail-walking, sailing and golf can also be enjoyed nearby.

For more cultural activities, guests might like to visit the Goya Gallery in Castres and the Toulouse Lautrec Gallery in Albi. Other places of interest are Rocquefort (the limestone caves where the famous cheese is produced); the Millau viaduct (a spectacular engineering marvel) and the Bastide villages of Cordes, Najac, Sauveterre-de-Rouergue and Castelnau-de-Montmiral.

About our property (sleeps 5/9)

'Les Gravasses' is a traditional Tarn farmhouse which accommodates 5-9 people (depending on the time of year). 'Les Gravasses' has several acres of grounds, as well as a large swimming pool. One of the barns also has facilities for table-tennis, badminton and volleyball.

The farmhouse faces onto a pretty courtyard with a large teak dining table which seats up to 10 people. Sheltered from both the sun and the wind, it is the ideal spot for eating alfresco - and as the sun goes down, the evening ambiance is complemented by the moon and the stars above.

'Les Gravasses' is bordered by verdant fields and woods. Its hilltop location is wonderfully quiet, with just birdsong and the toll of distant church bells punctuating the peace and tranquillity. Early morning mists can give a surreal effect across the surrounding countryside, and the stunning views Kitchenwill particularly delight photographers.

'Les Gravasses' has been furnished to the highest standards. It has also been equipped for babies and toddlers.

On the ground floor, the well-equipped farmhouse kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine, a fridge/freezer, a cooker and a microwave oven.

The dining room (which has a table Sitting Roomseating 10 people) and the sitting room both open out to the courtyard. The sitting room has a wood-burning stove, a TV/VCR and a radio/CD/cassette player. There are also board games, toys, a good selection of videos and masses of books for guests to enjoy.

On the first floor are two large bedrooms - each with a double bed and a single bed - and a spacious bathroom. The attic has been converted into a large children's bedroom with four single beds.

In addition, there is a bedroom with a single bed on the ground floor alongside a shower room with WC and wash basin.

'Les Gravasses' has a large swimming pool (12m x 6m) with a diving board and pool toys, such as lilos, rings and balls. The pool also has a security alarm system for your safety. The water in the pool is salt-based which is more pleasant than chlorine and is ecologically friendly. We take great care to ensure that the pool is in excellent condition at all times.

Around the pool is a paved terrace with parasols and sunloungers for sunbathing. Flanked by sloping lawns and trees, guests can sit by the pool and enjoy uninterrupted views to the south and west as far as the distant Pyrénées. It's also a great place to recline after dark to watch out for shooting stars accompanied by the sound of cicadas and grasshoppers.
