We invite you to our home, Castelou Pelies, which is situated on the banks of the Lot River in the beautiful Aveyron department of South West France.

Castelou Pelies overlooks the majestic Lot River which flows serenely at the bottom of our peaceful private garden and in any season gives you stunning views of the Lot Valley.

Castelou Pelies is an old manor house which was built from the remnants of a 15th Century castle that stood on the same site. We are situated on the borders of the Lot and Cantal and it is in an ideal position for you to explore the beautiful surrounding area of the Lot and Cantal departments.

The medieval village of Conques, which is a Unesco World Heritage site, is just 8 kms away and the area has many ancient picturesque villages and towns for you to discover.

Each chambre is tastefully decorated with French and English antique furniture, creating an ideal ambience for you to enjoy a restful and relaxing visit.

Your continental breakfast of fresh local products including Jams, yoghurts, croissants, cereals, juices, cheese and 'charcuterie' is served either in the dining room or, weather permitting, on our large shaded terrace overlooking the garden and the river Lot

About our region

The area around Castelou Pelies is steeped in history and features beautiful, ancient villages and stunning vistas just waiting for you to discover.

The City of Rodez, the capital of the Aveyron, is a 40 minute drive away and has daily flights from Stansted with Ryanair. The highest bridge in the world, the Millau Viaduct is just an hour and a quarter by car as are the beautiful and spectacular Gorges of the Tarn, Dourbie and Jonte.

The Aveyron, still unspoilt and little discovered by tourists,
is a haven for ramblers and anglers or just touring the area in your car where you will find very little traffic.

For the more energetic, there are many outdoor activities such as canoeing, horseriding, cycling or you can simply relax and have a swim in our private pool.

Old and new meet at the magnificent Millau viaduct which is the tallest bridge in the world. Here you can visit the exhibition on the creation of this outstanding feat of engineering, which was designed by Lord Norman Foster and built by Eiffel.

Within easy reach of Castelou Pelies are the Gorges of the Tarn, Dourbie and Jonte and if you love cycling, rambling or just sightseeing in your car you will be surprised at how peaceful and unspoilt the area is, with very little traffic even in the 'busiest' of seasons.

A must for visitors is a visit to some of the “Plus Beau Villages De France”, “The most beautiful villages in France”. This is a prestigious club of 139 villages which have been chosen for their character, heritage and the desire of the inhabitants to protect their uniqueness. The Aveyron has 9 of these villages which is more than any other department in France.

The 'Jewel in the Crown' is the village of Conques which is just 8 kms from Castelou Pelies.

Castelou Pelies is 2 kms from the village of Grand Vabre which has restaurants, bars and a small grocery shop.
