  About our region

Le Mazet des Cypres is on the edge of the quiet and friendly village of Blauvac, located in the heart of the Vaucluse area of Provence. To the south, you can see the Monts de Vaucluse and to the west and north the ‘Giant of Provence’’ Mont Ventoux.

From Blauvac, there is easy access to the lavender-scented Plateau de Vaucluse, the vineyards of the Dentelles de Montmirail, famed for it’s Gigondas, Chateauneuf de Pape, Sablet and Vacqueyras wines and the walking, swimming, cycling and sight-seeing opportunities of the ‘Pays de Ventoux’.

To the north and west and all within easy reach are Avignon, Orange and Uzes; to the south are the villages of the Massif du Luberon, Aix-en-Provence and the Roman cities of Nimes and Arles. But the real delights of the region lie in the many local villages and their sunny markets, sleepy bars and excellent restaurants.

For daily supplies of bread, milk etc (there are no shops in Blauvac) you can pop down the hill to either Malemort, Mormoiron or Villes-sur-Auzon, although Malemort is the nearest for the boulangerie, and also has a small supermarket.

There are good small supermarkets in Bedoin, where you can buy most of what you will need and there are fresh produce markets almost every day of the week in the nearby villages. For bigger shopping trips, head to Carpentras and the Eddie Leclerc superstore. And don’t forget that in high summer everybody takes a siesta which means that most shops close about noon and open again about teatime.

The area has plenty to offer from walking and cycling to wine tasting and enjoying the local produce as well as visiting the various cultural and artistic centres of the region.

About our property (sleeps 8)

Le Mazet des Cypres is a traditional Provencal farmhouse or mazet that has been carefully restored using local architects and builders. It stands in the middle of fruit trees, vineyards and olive groves and offers fabulous views of Mont Ventoux and the Monts de Vaucluse.
The setting is blissfully secluded and the house is set just a little way out of the village at the end of its own private track.

The interior mixes the traditional with the contemporary to offer simple comfortable accommodation.

There is a sitting room with sofa and armchairs as well as a spacious sejour which offers flexible accommodation and can be used for indoor dining or just lounging around. For winter days the sejour has a wood burning stove making this a cosy space for colder weather.

There are radiators throughout the house and a big open log fire in the sitting room.

The kitchen is well equipped and has a washing machine, dish washer and Smeg oven as well as two fridges.

Leading off from the kitchen there is a shower, sink and WC.

There are four double bedrooms, two with single beds and two with doubles. All are simply but comfortably furnished and combine traditional furnishings with more modern pieces. Each room is generously proportioned and has fabulous views on to the countryside. The master bedroom on the first floor has an en suite bathroom and WC.

On the second floor one of the rooms has its own terrace, again with wonderful views of the Ventoux.

Located between the two bedrooms there is a further shower and WC.

We supply bed linen and towels but ask you to bring your
own outdoor towels. There is also a travel cot for babies.

Outside there are terraced areas for al fresco eating as well as a barbecue, dining table and chairs and large sun parasol. There is also a fabulous brand new pool, with panoramic views and sun loungers.

Getting there

Getting to Blauvac village (from Nimes, Avignon or Marseilles)

If you are flying to Nimes, from the airport join the motorway and head towards Avignon. If you are arriving on the Eurostar in Avignon then follow signs for Carpentras. Directions from Marseilles airport are also below.

From Avignon to Blauvac
Make your way to Carpentras, taking the fast road (D942) from Avignon’s ring road. Carpentras is 19 kms north-east of Avignon. Head to the centre of Carpentras and then follow signs for Mazan and then on towards Villes-sur-Auzon on the D942. As you exit Mazan take the sign posted right-hand turn towards Blauvac. The road climbs past a quarry, and soon after this, there is a left hand turn signposted to Blauvac. Follow this narrow and winding road as it climbs up to the village. Once into the village, you arrive in the small central ‘place’ on the crest of the hilltop; this is where our housekeeper will meet you. Avignon to Blauvac willl take approximately one hour.

From Marseilles Marignane airport to Blauvac.

Leave Marignane airport and follow the signs for Salon de Provence, Lyon and Avignon. Join the A7 autoroute, direction Lyon and head north towards exit 25 at Cavaillon. Leave the autoroute at Cavaillon and follow signs for Carpentras and Isle sur la Sorgue. Follow signs into the centre of Isle Sur la  Sorgue. And then leave Isle on the D938 toward Pernes Les Fontaines before continuing through Pernes to Carpentras on the D938.
From Carpentras you can pick up the road to Mazan and then finally Blauvac, as detailed above. Marseilles to Blauvac takes approximately 90 minutes.
