  About our region

Our privately owned mobile homes at Pachacaid Holiday Village are situated in the midst of the stunning scenery of the Cote d’Azur and provide the ideal setting for a great holiday.

Nearby is the world renowned resort of St Tropez, with its beautiful beaches, and the picturesque hilltop villages of Gassin, Grimaud and Ramatuelle. St Tropez

Apart from the attractions of the main season Provence is really beautiful in the early and late seasons.

In April, May and early June the hillsides abound with beautiful wildflowers.  Honeysuckle, cistus and lavender grow wild on the hillsides and the brilliant yellow broom contrasts vividly with the azure of the sea.  There are many interesting wildflowers to find.  The climate is just right for walking and for photographers the vistas are clear for superb landscape pictures.  Also it is less crowded at this time of year and thus easier to visit places of interest

In September everything is mellow and ripe. Grapes hang heavy on the vines in the warm pink glow of early autumn. This light seems to be absorbed by the rock used to build the picturesque old houses which abound in the local villages.  Another treat for the photographers but also a delight for those who like to sit in the street side bars and restaurants and just soak up the atmosphere.

September is also the time of the grape harvest and wine fairs when the local shops and supermarkets have some amazing wine bargains

There are some excellent restaurants in the area, some of them in stunning locations.  For around 20 Euros (plus wine ) you can eat very well although it is possible to find a pleasant meal for less.

There are many pretty villages that are well worth a visit like Gassin, Grimaud, Cogolin, Ramatuelle Collobrieres and of course St Tropez. Go early to St Tropez to beat the heavy traffic especially on market days (Tuesday and Saturday)  Have breakfast in one of the waterside restaurants. From this vantage point you can watch the rich and sometimes famous playing on their boats.s than that.

Port Grimaud is a must to visit. Market day here is on Thursday and Sunday.Remember that all markets are finished around midday so go early.  You can take the water taxi for a trip around the canals, but you can also hire a little electric boat and do your own tour. You will find these boats by the church. The children will love it! You can also take the boat to St Tropez across the bay, look out for the notices on the quay.

The Gorge du Verdon is stunning  The drive there takes about 2 hours, but it is an interesting journey.  The lake of St Croix is turquoise blue and you can take a canoe or a pedalo up into the gorge itself.  It is quite safe.  We took Beach at Canadelour Mum for a pedalo ride on her 80th birthday!

The nearest beaches are at Le Rayol and Canadel.  Take the road up and over the Col du Canadel.  It will take about 15 minutes  Park in one of the tracks leading to the sea.  Further afield are the famous St Tropez beaches. Also worth a visit is L’Escalet beach, just south of Ramatuelle.

As you will see your accommodation has everything you need to provide the kind of holiday that you’ll remember: comfortable beds, shower, toilet and washbasin, well equipped kitchen with a fridge and ample storage.

Walking

If you like walking, and especially if you like walking and photography, the beautiful scenery of the Massif des Maures is all around you.  There are many footpaths, some over the hills and some along the coast, all with interesting features and stunning views.  The place pictured above is about a ten minute car journey followed by an hours moderate walking away from Pachacaid. As you can see you are rewarded by a panorama stretching from La Garde Freinet right across the Golfe de St Tropez to Gassin, with the Corniche de l'Esterel and, on a clear day, the Alpes Maratime in the background. Bernard in Pachacaid reception is a keen local walker and has written up some local routes for you to enjoy.

Wine Tasting

If you like wine you are in an excellent location.  All through the Valley of the Mole and in the surrounding countryside there are vineyards everywhere.  At most of them 'degustation' ( tasting ) is encouraged.  The local wine, reds, whites and, of course, rosés are excellent and there are several vinyards within easy reach of Pachacaid plus the Co-operatives at Cogolin and Grimaud.  Again ask Bernard in Pachacaid reception, who is very knowledgeable on such matters.

A little further afield, about an hour and a quarter's drive to the north, you can reach Cotignac, a lovely old picturesque medieval Provencal village.  Just to the south of the village is one of our favourite vineyards called 'Carpe Diem'.  Here you can taste and buy their wines either bottled or 'en vrac'.  The Vignerons de Cotignac whose building you will find in the village also has some excellent wines.  After tasting you can have lunch in one of the restaurants at the side of the picturesque village square with its beautiful avenue of plane trees.  Our favourite is the 'Table de la Fontaine' at the top of the square.

Wherever you go to visit vineyards it is worth remembering that they usually close between 12noon and 3pm.  Santé!

About the site

Set on terraces on the side of a deep wooded valley, Pachacaid is one of the most luxurious and best equipped sites on the Cote d’Azur, only a short distance away from the beaches of St Tropez and Rayol.

Pachacaid has tennis courts, a children's playgroung and a self-service shop open daily. Le Pachacafe bistro is open for quick lunches and entertainment during the evening.

There is a disco for night birds which as well as being soundproofed is built underground to protect the peace and quiet of non-dancers.

As another safeguard against unwanted noise, cars are not allowed into the village after 11 pm and must park overnight at a car park opposite the main entrance.

An integral part of the village is the Niagara Nautical Park, with its superb swimming pool, 7 giant water chutes, as well as paddling pool for youngsters, a whirlpool bath and a Turkish steam room.

The swimming pool is open from *May until September from 10am to 7pm daily. Residents of Pachacaid enjoy preferential entrance fees and free use of the swimming pool, with the added assurance of lifeguards on duty at all times.
