About
our property  Les Doinets is a family run
chambre d'hôte with gite in the north of Vienne,
providing the best of English hospitality with a taste of
France. Chambre 1 Double
bedroom with en-suite shower/WC, heating in all rooms and tea making
facilities. This room is reached by French windows opening on to the veranda, making it ideal for people for limited mobility. Chambre 2 Ground
floor double room with en-suite shower/WC, heating in all rooms and tea-making
facilities. This room has a fold-down single bed for a child. All our accommodation is on the ground floor, including the dining room. Our complimentary continental breakfast is a generous selection of breads and pastries, with home made conserves, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Table d'hôte meals comprise starter, plat du jour, cheese and dessert. Wine & coffee included for €20 euros per person. Two course dinner with plat du jour and dessert for €12 euros per person. 2) For the independent traveller, a ground floor apartment for two comprising double bedroom, living room with open-plan kitchen/diner, shower room and separate WC. The kitchen is well equiped with a five-ring gas hob, combination-microwave oven, fridge-freezer, electric kettle and all crockery and cooking utensils. All rooms have heating. Richelieu is 10 mintues away, Chinon 15 mintues, 45 minutes away are Saumur and the Doué Zoo, and an hour away is Futuroscope and Poitiers. The attractions include: Montreuil-Bellay A pretty village to wander through with an elegant chateau, partly ramparts and fortified towers, overlooking terraced gardens leading down to the River Thouet. Doué Zoo Innovative split-level zoo built in an old quarry – probably the only place you can look a giraffe in the eye! Saumur Fairytale chateau sitting above the old quarter; once an important port and seat of learning, now famous for horses and sparkling wine! Chinon Joan of Arc underwent her famous transformation here from peasant to warrior; once the seat of power for both England and France under Henry Plantaganet. Now a pretty town of shops, restaurants and riverside walks. Langeais Feudal fortification that houses an elegant interior, now furnished to give a glimpse into aristocratic life in the middle ages. Richelieu The infamous Cardinal’s 17th Century moated town of classical mansions and avenues. The gardens of the now destroyed chateau are vast and glorious and worth a visit alone. Regular antiques and brocante fairs. Ussé White turrets offset by the dramatic backdrop of the Forêt de Chinon; Chateau Ussé is said to be the inspiration for the story of The Sleeping Beauty. Chenonceau What started as a manor house and watermill was transformed through the centuries by a succession of influential women into what is now a magnificent palace, stretching alongside and across the River Cher. Les Doinets is in Estrpeids on the D23 which runs between the D759 (Chinon to Loudun) and the D61 (Loudun to Richelieu). Our nearest airports are Poitiers and Tours. They have daily Ryanair flights. In addition FlyBe are now operating into Angers from Southampton – three flights a week at the moment. Both airports have car hire available.
