Situated in 20 acres of tranquil French countryside, in the heart of Poitou-Charentes, this newly renovated 17th century farmhouse, with floodlit swimming pool, is the perfect place for relaxing holidays in Vienne.

The farmhouse retains many original features including oak beamed ceilings, beautiful stone work and the original Charantais stone sink (now a wine store).

The below ground swimming pool is 10 x 5m with underwater floodlights and Roman steps. The patio area around the pool is ideal for sunbathing. The pool is completely enclosed for safety.

Guests are invited to walk through the owners' 20 acres which includes a cherry orchard (ripe for picking in May) and walnut trees (ready in September/October).

The ground floor of the farmhouse consists of:

A large open-plan living area comprising fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge with a wood burning fire. A music centre with cd, radio and cassette.

The kitchen has all modern amenities including dishwasher, microwave, gas hob and electric oven and fridge/freezer.

Beyond the kitchen is a small utility area, which houses the washing machine and oil-fired central heating boiler.

Next to this is a toilet and hand basin.

The front door leads out onto:

A private, enclosed, south facing garden area with garden furniture and bbq.

Fourth bedroom with two single beds.

TV lounge with a settee and satellite TV.

First Floor

The first floor has been completely laid to chestnut wood flooring and comprises:

Double bedroom: Large room with double bed and wardrobe. En-suite shower, toilet and hand basin. Glorious views of the surrounding countryside.

Chimney Room: Bedroom containing two single beds and exposed brick chimney.

Double bedroom: Very large double room with double bed and wardrobe. Views over the countryside.

Family bathroom: Separate shower and bath, toilet and hand basin.

All windows are double-glazed and the farmhouse is fully centrally heated for winter lettings.

Prices and booking information

All prices are per week for up to 6 people.

For parties of 7 or 8 persons, there is a surcharge of £50.00 per person per week.

25% deposit is required on booking,with the balance due 8 weeks prior to holiday.

Returnable damage deposit £100.

Winter fuel suppliment applies.

Arrival is not before 4.00pm and departure before 10.00am.

About our region

The surrounding area is perfect for walking or cycling, with local guide maps available. You can pick up the d'oc et d'oil trail from the village and do all or part of the 56km walk.

Horse riding, fishing, canoeing and swimming in the many inland swimming lakes are all nearby.

A twenty minute walk (1 mile) takes you to the pretty village of Pressac where you will find a boulangerie, two small restaurants/bars, a post office, tabac, hairdresser and the village shop.

The historic medieval town of Confolens is just a few minutes drive away with supermarkets, banks, restaurants and local amenities.

A bit further afield is Poitiers (about 50 minute drive). The busy centre is full of narrow winding streets waiting to be explored and the architecture is impressive too.

Theme parks include Futuroscope, Valley of the Apes, Snake Island and Giants of the Sky.

Getting there

Ryanair fly from Stansted to Poitiers, while Flybe go from Southampton (and other regional airports) to Limoges, and there are also airports at Tours and Bordeaux. The TGV high speed train service takes approximately 90 minutes from Paris to Poitiers.
