About
our region Welcome to the second sunniest area of France, the beautiful countryside of Poitou - Charentes. Situated midway between the N10 and Civray, our gite is set in the small hamlet of La Tourenne, within easy reach (within 15 minutes' walk) of the picturesque village of Blanzay, which offers all local amenities including post office, bread shop, grocery shop, telephone, bar, restaurant and a Norman church. Just five minutes drive away is Civray, the picturesque market town with its open air swimming pool, restaurants, bars, supermarkets and twice weekly market. Poitiers is under an hour's drive away, with its attractive squares, narrow alleyways and cobbled streets. It is also home to Futuroscope, the futuristic 3D cinema and evening laser show. Cognac can also be reached in under an hour. There are many shops and cafés to be found here, and of course the famous distilleries of Rémy Martin and Martell. At approximately eight miles away is Romagne, with its large Monkey Sanctuary. The monkeys all live wild in natural wooded islets and there is not a cage or a barrier to be seen. Other places of interest include Le Château d'Epanvilliers Brux, Le Château de Gencay and Le Parc Floral Gardens which are only fifteen minutes drive. The towns of La Rochelle and Bordeaux can be reach in about an hour. About our property  Ron and Barbara welcome you to their two holiday gites, Le Pigeonnier and Le Goose Cottage. Each one is completely separate and situated around a courtyard with the owners' own home. Each gite has its own brick barbecue and outside dining area. Set in two acres of secluded fenced grounds with a large lawn. Each gite has its own above ground pool with garden area sun loungers, patio table, parasols and a garden swing. There is plenty of grassed lawn area to sit in or for ball games such as cricket and badminton. We also have a floodlit boules court, table tennis, table top football and for our younger guests we have a brick payhouse. For the more adventurous we have a selection of bicycles for you to use free of charge. fireplace and wood burning stove, Kitchen has original oak beams and tiled floor and is fully equipped with modern kitchen cabinets and appliances. There is a large gas cooker, microwave, toaster & coffee maker. An iron & ironing board is included and there is a large selection of kitchen utensils. The washing machine is located in the bathroom. Bathroom is family size with washing machine, walk in shower cubicle, washbasin & toilet. Bedroom One (3.5m x 4m) has oak beams and original features, a double bed & two single beds with bedside lights and a range of traditional french furniture. Bedroom Two (6m x 5m) has plenty of original features; pigeonholes & exposed oak beams it has one double bed, two single beds & cot with bedside lights. The room is fully furnishised with traditional french furniture, and has an ensuite with toilet and washbasin. Outside is your own garden/patio area with table, chairs & parasol and brick barbeque also full use of two acre grounds with your own 7m x 3m above ground swimming pool. Change over day is Saturday but out of high season mid-week bookings are available. All prices include Bed Linen, Towels, Tea Towels, Gas, Water & Electricity. is available as a holiday gite, for bed and breakfast and
for long winter lets for people who are looking to
purchase a property in France. The accommodation on the first floor comprises: A kitchen/living room with a flagged floor and original stone walls and beamed ceilings. The kitchen area is fully equipped with a full size cooker, double sink, microwave, fridge, and a large selection of kitchen utensils. The living room area has a table and chairs, a settee and chair and a coffee table. English Television with video and CD player, and selection of videos and CDs. There is also a selection of games and books. The open plan staircase leads to a small mezzanine landing which leads on to: A family size
bedroom which
has a French double bed, a single bed, wardrobe and
drawers. The bedroom has stone The bathroom consists of a walk in shower, washbasin and WC. All the walls are fully tiled. All linen, bath towels and tea towels are included in the price. Outside, the gite
has its own barbecue and an outside dining area. A cot is
available if required.
Special price offer for Le Goose Cottage for winter lets from £125.00 per week. All prices include
water, electricity, gas , towels, tea towels and all bed
linen; choice of duvets or blankets. Linen is changed
weekly and a maid service is available. Heaters are
available in winter for a supplement. B & B Price: £30.00 per night which includes Continental Breakfast with full use of facilities. Evening meal can be provided 12 Euros each including wine. Getting
