our gite La Bodiniere is situated 1 mile outside
the pretty town of Moncoutant which is on the Deux Sevres
– Vendee border allowing easy access to the
plentiful attractions both regions have to offer. Set in
5 acres of gardens and meadows La Bodiniere enables you
to enjoy the tranquillity and relaxation of the French
countryside yet is within 10 minutes drive of Moncoutant,
Cerizay and the market town of Bressuire, which offers a
range of facilities from supermarkets, cafes, restaurants
to shops.We also live at La Bodiniere and are therefore
on hand to ensure our visitors have an enjoyable holiday.
Accommodation
(sleeps 4-8)
La Bodiniere is a
charming 2 bedroom gite with many character features and
modern facilities. 
It
has the option of sleeping up to 8 people with a large
master bedroom with ensuite toilet, twin room and 2
double sofa beds in the lounge.
In
the private garden is an above ground 3.5m pool, a patio
area and children’s play area.
The
large open plan kitchen/dining area has a fully fitted  kitchen with dishwasher,
washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave.
The
separate lounge has large comfy sofas, wooden floors,
TV/DVD, CD player and a selection of DVD’s and
CD’s to enjoy.
To ensure your holiday is as welcoming as
possible at La Bodiniere you will receive:
- On arrival we
will provide a light meal and dessert and a
welcome basket containing the essentials you will
need to start your holiday.
- After a long
day sightseeing allow us to prepare you an
evening meal, prepared by our resident chef.
(Menus and prices available on request).
- Breakfasts
and picnics are also available.
- Are you
celebrating a special occasion? Allow us to
provide an evening meal, bottle of champagne and
celebratory fruit cake. (Price on request).
- Private
terrace equipped for Al Fresco dining with
barbeque.
- All linen and
towels are provided.
- There are no
extra charges for utilities.
- We welcome
children and can provide a cot and high chair and
have sun and shaded outdoor areas with toys
available including swings and slides for
children aged 3 - 11 years.

About our
region
- The local town of Moncoutant
offers a number of small shops and restaurants
plus its own chateau.
- Market towns - Bressuire and
Cerizay offer a wider variety of shops and
restaurants. Bressuire also has a chateau with
views over the surrounding area.
- Poitiers is a modern and
dynamic regional capital with a rich
architectural heritage in its historic centre.
- Coulon or Le Venise Verte
(Green Venice) is a beautiful area of waterways
and islands with some properties only accessible
by water - best explored by hiring a boat.
- La Rochelle has a glorious
old harbour surrounded by stately buildings.
It’s the biggest yachting centre on the
Atlantic coast.
- Also, there is the huge
Aquarium which features different marine animals
from all continents.
- The villages of Mervent
& Vouvant are in the ‘Le Massif

breathtaking games of the Roman Circus, the
Vikings, Musketeers and many more.
- For children and adults
alike there are Parc de la Vallee, La Foret de
l’Adventure and Indian Forest with lots of
activities in the tree tops. Within the Mervant
Forest there are a number of theme parks
including Mervant
- Adventure and Parc de Pierre
Brune with fairground rides, water rides, mini
golf, karting and much more.
- Just over an hours drive are
the many beautiful sandy beaches of the Vendee
Atlantic Coast.

Cerizay’s leisure centre.
- Pescalis just
outside Moncoutant offers both fishing and horse
riding set in 100 acres.
- The Mervant
– Vouvant Forest offers kayaks, canoeing,
sailing and motor boat hire.
- There are
numerous walking and bike trails in the region
including the Mervant Forest and Pescalis.
Getting
there
Airports
- Poitiers -
Approx 1hr drive with Ryanair (flights from
Stansted.)
- La Rochelle -
1¼hr drive with Ryanair from Stansted
and Flybe for flights from Southampton and
Birmingham.
- Nantes - Just
over 1hr drive with Ryanair offering flights from
Stansted, East Midlands & Shannon. AirFrance
via Paris and GB Airways from Gatwick.
Airport pick-up
available for up to 4 people at a cost of £30 return.
Local car hire also available.
Ports
St. Malo is the
nearest - approx 3hrs drive. Caen offers good road links
at about 4.5hrs, Cherbourg is a shorter crossing time
with a trip down the peninsular on ordinary roads. Le
Harve and Calais offer shorter crossings with longer
driving times.
