About
our region The property is situated in a very peaceful small village surrounded by fields of corn and sunflowers. It is at the southern end of Deux Sevres, close to the forest of Chizé which is famous for 'Zoodysée.' The town of Brioux-sur-Boutonne is 4 miles distant with a supermarket, a variety of shops, restaurants, a weekly market, swimming pool and tennis courts. Melle - Romanesque town of the Pays Mellois, is a 15 minute drive, and is a much larger town. There are three supermarkets, more shops and restaurants, several beautiful churches, silver mine, arboratum etc. Niort, the principal town of Deux-Sevres, is approximately 25 minutes' drive. Here there is excellent shopping, restaurants and many places of interest for the visitor including ancient dungeons. Close by to the west of Niort is the Marais Poitevin. This is a network of canals where the countryside is lush and dotted with poplar trees. For hire are a variety of boats including rowing boats and canoes, or you can relax whilst being poled along by a guide Venice style in large punts. The region offers many days out within easy reach. On the coast there is the wonderful old port of La Rochelle, Royan and the islands of Oleron and Re, all with beautiful beaches. Inland, there is
Poitiers to the north with Futuroscope, the superb
futuristic 3D cinema theme park, a very popular
attraction for both adults and children alike. To the
