About
our cottages Cognac Country is where you can find our home, La Maison des Grands Bambous, which offers luxury Chambres d'Hotes / Bed and Breakfast and Gites / Self-catering holidays and short breaks out of high season. Relax in
tranquil surroundings, with heated swimming We are within easy reach of Cognac (20 mins), Saintes (35 mins), Angouleme (35 mins), Royan (50 mins), La Rochelle (70 mins), Poitiers (70 mins), Bordeaux (95 mins) where you can find beaches, golf, fishing, seafood, cognac, wine, pineau the local speciality and much more. Gites / Self Catering Accommodation We have three cottages available. Each cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard to provide extremely comfortable and well-appointed accommodation with electric central heating. They comprise: Two double en-suite bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) with Italian bathrooms, excellent mattresses, bedside lamps, clock radio and hair dryer. The spacious open-plan living room is furnished to a superior standard, consisting of sofas, chairs, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Each cottage has its own private terrace, garden with garden furniture, barbecue facilities and private parking. Oleander Cottage - sleeps 2/4 Oleander Cottage provides accommodation for either two or four people and adjoins the main house. This cottage is located on three levels. The twin bedded room has its own separate entrance and is linked to the open plan living room up a few steps. The double bedroom is up a few steps from the living area.
The entrance to the living room is situated at the front of the main house with its own terrace, garden with garden furniture, barbecue and private parking.
Bamboo Garden - sleeps 4 (available from May 2006) Bamboo Garden provides accommodation for four people and is set in the grounds of the main house overlooking a small courtyard and pool area. The en-suite bedrooms, one double and one twin are both on the first floor. The entrance is located in a small courtyard in the grounds behind the main house with its own terrace, garden with garden furniture, barbecue area and private parking. The spacious open-plan living room is furnished to a superior standard, consisting of sofas, chairs, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Bamboo Garden can be linked on the ground floor to Bamboo Grove, should two groups wish to holiday together. Bamboo Grove - Sleeps 4 (available from May 2006) Bamboo Grove provides accommodation for four people and is set in the grounds of the main house overlooking a small courtyard and pool area. Bamboo Grove can be linked on the ground floor to Bamboo Garden, should two groups wish to holiday together. We have tried to think of everything to make your stay special. To save on luggage space, we provide a luxury welcome pack and all cleaning materials. All linen, towels and central heating are provided within the prices. Beach towels are available at an additional cost. If there is anything we have forgotten or you would like, please ask. All accommodation has the following: Internal facilities Kitchen facilities Leisure facilities Optional extras If you are tired or want a break from the kitchen, you can dine with our other guests, provided you let us know by 10 o'clock that moring. About our region We are within easy reach of Cognac (20 mins), Saintes (35 mins), Angouleme (35 mins), Royan (50 mins), La Rochelle (70 mins), Poitiers (70 mins), Bordeaux (95 mins) where you can find beaches, golf, fishing, seafood, cognac, wine, pineau the local speciality and much more. The nearest restaurant is a delightful, family run auberge, in the hamlet of Coucoussac. Whilst the nearest bar and boulangerie are to be found in the village of Siecq. There is also a small bar, mini-supermarket, tabac and post office in Ballans. All these facilities are about 2 kilometres away. Golfing Breaks La Maison des Grands Bambous is fortunate to be situated in an area where there are six golf courses within an hour's drive. For the really keen, Poitiers also boasts two courses but these are about 80-90 minutes away. We are currently trying to arrange discounts on green fees for groups of four players or more, who come to play as a 'club'. We would
like to offer flexible breaks between September and May
as follows: However, more flexibility can be accommodated between October and April, when it is less hectic and cooler. Please note that, currently, Ryanair do not fly to La Rochelle on a Thursday, in the winter months. For
