Tranquility near Royan

This lovely holiday home is situated inland, but only 25 minutes from Royan on the coast with its wonderful beaches. Also close to the picturesque port of Mortagne-sur-Gironde with its three good and reasonably priced restaurants. Cognac is only about twenty miles away, and its significance is self explanatory! The ancient town of Saintes is about twenty minutes. There are many Roman churches in the immediate vicinity. Take the ferry from Royan across to the Medoc, and visit the famous wine châteaux such as Laffite, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux and Petrus etc.

Cravans has a bar/restaurant with good lunch menu €10-€15, and a baker's. St Andre de Lidon (5 minutes) has a general store, bakers, post office, and an excellent bar/ restaurant Le Relais de Lidon, with menus starting at 13euros. They will deliver to the house free of charge at a less than restaurant price!. At Gemozac there is a large supermarket open all day, three restaurants and a Friday market.

Visit the Ile d'Oleron and the Ile de Re, and the beautiful La Rochelle. There is an excellent zoo at Palmyre. So, you have surfing and sailing at Royan and St George de Didonne, riding at Epagnes and Cozes (ten minutes) and golf at Cognac and Saintes, and good eating everywhere!

About our property (sleeps 16)

This superb well furnished holiday home is situated in Cravans near Gemozac at the end of a tree lined cul-de-sac, in the tiny hamlet of Chez Bouquet, which consists of ten houses, surrounded by vineyards and sunflower fields.

On passing through the gates, you enter a totally secluded world, which consists of an acre of beautiful lawns, trees, bushes, flower beds and a large wood full of poplar trees. There is a lovely 10 metre by 5 metre walk in swimming pool, which has wind -on security cover which complies with new French standard NF P90-308 and a pool shower.

Next to the pool is the excellent barbecue, and a dining table seating twelve. The pool conservatory, which is shaded all day, has glass sliding doors which open the room 66%. Inside there is a drinks fridge, and an ice-cube making machine churning out cubes to your requirements! Facing the pool is a CCTV camera transmitting photo and sound to a 21" monitor in the  kitchen, bringing peace of mind for parents!.

The main conservatory is at the front of the house, and beautifully furnished as a dining area, with large plants.

The large, country style kitchen is well equipped with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge freezer, toaster, mixer and juicer.

The main lounge is substantial with elegant Charentaise furniture, and polished wall units. There is a satellite TV, DVD, video player, and CD stereo.

Second lounge/kitchenette is situated at the east end of the house, and contains a cooker, fridge, grill, and sink unit, dining table, TV and DVD player and double sofa bed. This room gives access to the upper floor.

Bedroom 1 is very large with a queen size bed and a single bed and huge, lovely wardrobe.

Bedroom 2 is large with twin beds, an elegant wash basin unit and large shower with glass doors. There are double doors onto the terrace and a door into the pool conservatory, which contains a drinks fridge.

Bedroom 3 is a double room with King sized bed, and huge built-in wardrobes with cupboards above, one containing a TV/DVD on swivel brackets for ease of viewing. This bed room also has a radio/CD player.

Bedroom 4 is big [27sq.metres] and has twin beds, and a double sofa bed, electric velux skylight, TV and DVD player, stereo system, and  spotlights with dimmers.

Bedroom 5 has twin beds, and spotlights with dimmers.

There is another open plan room which has a single bed.  

Bathroom 1 has a bath with attached shower,  twin wash basins, and large mirror with spotlights.

Bathroom 2 is a walk-in shower room[wet room].

Bathroom 3 has a washbasin, vanity unit, and a separate toilet.

Bathroom 4 is on the first floor, and has a marble washbasin, shower with jets, and a toilet.There is also another toilet on the ground floor.

The enormous garage also contains the washing machine, a dryer for winter, and the iron/ironing board.

Table tennis equipment is situated in the garage for play on wet days, but can be wheeled onto the terrace. There are also 2 children's bicycles 9-12 years.

There is also a travel cot available.

8 hours from Calais, 1hr 15 mins Bordeaux, and 1 hour to La Rochelle airport. We are 25mins from A10 motorway.
