our B&B Driving through the Charente countryside with its fields of sunflowers and sweetcorn you may be lucky and stumble on the charming village of Verteuil 5 mins south of the bustling market town of Ruffec.  The river Charente winds its way under the walls of the 15th century château which looms above the tranquil village with bakers, butchers, a greengrocer, tabac/ general store, pharmacy etc. Tucked under the chateau walls is one of the three village bars with its charming beer garden. There are also three restaurants in the village one of which is a charming, riverside restaurant, with candlelit dining room, riverside garden and views of the château. You'll not want for a more romantic place to eat. Accommodation
Entering the property via a gated courtyard with secure under cover parking, we have: Three spacious,

contained, converted barn which retains many of the
original features The property has full central heating and our price includes a continental breakfast which is served either in the kitchen or on the east facing sun terrace. We also provide shampoo, shower gel, tea and coffee, hair driers etc. One thing we always missed when
staying in B&Bs was We also have a separate laundry with washing, drying and ironing facilities should you need them. If you're house hunting then we are more than willing to pass on our knowledge and answer any questions you may have about the process of buying and renovating a property or integrating into French life (health, tax, etc). Prices apply all year round and are inclusive of continental breakfast and usage of all facilities. Please note that there is a 5 Euro supplement for stays of one night only. Sorry no pets allowed. About our region Located about 45 minutes drive south from Poitiers airport or 1 hr from Limoges and only 5 minutes from the main RN10 which give easy access to explore... The surrounding countryside is ideal for bird-watching, walking, fishing, horse riding, painting etc. You can also hire canoes, bicycles and quad bikes. Angouleme - 30 mins - parapeted city with pedestrian streets and a multitude of pavement cafes. Nautilus water park with its man made beach, sailing, wind surfing etc. La Vallee des Singes - 30 mins - more than 250 monkeys living in total liberty. Cognac/Jarnac - 45 mins - Beautiful towns on the river Charente and homes to the cognac distilleries of Hennessy, Remy Martin etc. Poitiers - 45 mins - offers lots to see in terms of art and architecture as well as the impressive church of Notre-Dame. The busy centre is full of narrow, winding pedestrian streets ideal for shopping and exploring. Futuroscope - 1hr - unique virtual reality theme park offering fun for all the family. Limoges - 1hr - famous for its porcelain manufacture and cobbled streets. The Atlantic coast -1hr 30 mins - visit the fishing ports of La Rochelle, Rochefort, Royan with their superb, sandy beaches fabulous aquarium and trips to Fort Boyard. Saintes - 1hr - Steeped in Roman history, one of the most beautiful cities in France.
