A beautiful rural retreat that sleeps up to 12 people.  Set in private grounds with its own large pool.

In the region of Vendee, a peaceful and tranquil location, 'Champigny' is newly renovated and comprises:

5 bedrooms (two doubles, two twins and 1 bunk) & double sofa bed in the lounge. 

It also benefits from 2 bathrooms/shower rooms, 1 separate toilet (3 in all).

Fully equipped kitchen.

Living room with Sky TV &  DVD. 

Large roof tiled terrace with barbecue, overlooking the 11m x 7m fully fenced and heated swimming pool with unspoilt and private views to the countryside.

The Outside and Pool

This beautiful pool was completed in April 2006 and measures a grand 11m x 7m. It has a unique salt water system and is heated. It also meets European safety standards and is fenced for safety.

There is a shallow end sloping to a total depth of 2m. The pool is also lit for evening pleasure.

The pool will be thoroughly cleaned and treated before your stay. We will also ensure a contact number for the keyholder is available should you have any questions or concerns.

The garden measures just under a quarter of an acre and there is also a large decked area leading off the property, including covered terrace, outside eating area, barbeque and children's play equipment.

Prices and booking information

We ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit of the total cost of the holiday to secure your booking, including security deposit of £100 per week or part week.

The balance must be paid no later than eight weeks before the start date of your holiday (unless it is a late booking). Payments must be made by bankers draft, sterling cheque or bank transfer with prior agreement.

About our region

Faymoreau is in the Vendee region which is located on the west coast of France. The sunny climate of the Vendee has been compared with that of the Cote d'Azur. The local area offers many interesting places to visit.

The cottage is close to the historic village of Vouvant and Mervant forest and fishing lakes.  Atlantic beaches such as La Rochelle are a 40 minute car journey and there is golf at La Roche Sur Von, Bourgenay and L'Aiguillon Sur Vie.

The historic village of Faymoreau has its own mining museum and is 15 minutes from the medieval village of Vouvant.

The River Mere flows through the village which is surrounded by a large forest with cycle routes, picnic areas and lakes for watersports. A fishing permit can be obtained from the Mayor's office locally to fish the local lake 5 minutes from the house.

The 'Renaissance' town of Fontenay Le Comte is 20 minutes with bars, restaurants and shops. Le Puy du Fou, Futuroscope and Pierre Braum theme parks are all within one hour's drive and there are many superb restaurants locally where the pleasures of French cuisine and wine can be experienced.

The Atlantic coast port of Les Sables D'Olonne, from where the Vendee Globe yacht race starts and finishes, is one hour's drive away. It is a vibrant port with miles of golden sand and also has a zoo and an aquarium.

La Tranche sur Mer and L'Aiguillon sur Mer are both a forty-five minute drive away and also offer miles of golden sand and are ideal for swimming and families.

La Rochelle is an ancient, historic port with ramparts, towers and palaces. It is a bustling port and there are many waterside cafes specialising in freshly caught seafood where you can sample the local cuisine.

On a Sunday morning, local French artists exhibit and sell their wares on the waterfront. La Rochelle has beaches, an aquarium and many other attractions including the Ile de Re which is well worth a visit and can be reached by a 3 km long bridge.

Getting there

Faymoreau is situated 12 km to the north of Fontenay-le-Comte and is a 40 minute drive from La Rochelle. 

There are regular flights from Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport to Nantes International Airport, La Rochelle Airport and Poitiers Airport.

Channel Tunnel Folkstone to Calais:
Crossing time 35 minutes.  Calais to Faymoreau approximately 7 hours via A28 Rouen Le Mans.

Plymouth - Roscoff:
Ideal ferry crossing for those living in the North, Midlands, Wales and the West of England.  Motorway routes via the M5 and M6.  Approximately 6 hour ferry crossing time.

Poole - Cherbourg:
Excellent departure choice from anywhere in the UK. Crossing time approximately 4 hours 15 minutes.
Faymoreau approximately 6 hours via A28 Rouen Le Mans.

Weymouth - Saint Malo:
Crossing by Condor Ferry.  Faymoreau approximately 6 hours via A28 Rouen Le Mans.

Cork - Roscoff:
The perfect route from Ireland, departures weekly from Cork on Saturday afternoons.  Crossing time approximately 14 hours
