Luxury bed & breakfast accommodation in the heart of the Loire Valley. Lovingly restored and renovated, Les Peupliers provides five luxurious guest bedrooms and suites, each with private facilities.

Large Heated Pool

Five individual and beautifully furnished rooms, all with ensuites and each designed with a touch of indulgence in mind - and a generous farmhouse breakfast is included in the price.

Haylofts I and II

Sympathetically restored to preserve the old beams that are so typical of French country 'longeres', this spacious room and another identical to it, is situated on the upper floor. 'Hayloft I' and 'Hayloft II' are our largest rooms.

They include a king size bed and a seating area with sofabed, DVD/CD player and tea/coffee making facilities. The family en-suite has a bath and a large seperate walk-in shower. A mezzanine links the two Haylofts with a seating area to relax in.

Stables I

This is the twin room available at Les Peupliers. This spacious accomodation includes a lounge area with tea/coffee making facilities and a large walk-in shower. 'Stables I', with it's ancient beamed ceiling and blue and white decor is situated on the ground floor and opens out into the courtyard.

Stables II

'Stables II' is the larger of our ground floor double rooms. Accomodation includes king-size bed, comfortable seating area with tea/coffee making facilities and an en-suite with large walk-in shower. With exposed ceiling beams, this room combines simple elegance with rustic charm.

The Garden Room

This is our double room, themed in relaxing shades of lavender with en-suite facilities. The 'Garden Room' opens out onto the courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast, or while away the afternoon by the heated swimming pool.

Food

A generous Farmhouse breakfast is included in the price of the stay and sumptuous evening meals are available every day cooked by Michael (formally an Executive Head Chef) with local produce and organic fruit and vegetables from Les Peuplier's charming kitchen garden.

Beauty treatments

A range of beauty treatments are available to enhance your stay by Clarins trained therapist Tracey, a former Beauty Therapy Lecturer. Art courses and cookery classes are also available throughout the year for those interested in learning a new skill or improving a present hobby.

Prices and booking information (Euros)

The prices shown are per room per night based on two people sharing and are for overnight accommodation and a generous farmhouse breakfast including delicious homemade breads and preserves, croissants, baguettes, juices, fruit, yoghurts, cereals, freshly brewed tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Subject to a minimum 2 night stay.

Please note that this is a child free environment and reserved for adults only to enjoy.

An extra person in the Haylofts is charged at 15 euros per night. Discounts are available for stays of 7 days or longer and tailor made packages can be arranged with evening meals and/or beauty treatments included

Cookery Courses

Join us at Les Peupliers, a 200 year old French farmhouse in the heart of the Loire Valley for one of our two-day cookery Master Classes lead by professional chef, Michael Wilke. Michael’s experienced, relaxed style will let you learn in a fun yet informative manner, with time for lots of hands-on practical skills and demonstrations where you can pick up tips and tricks of the professional kitchen.

Combine the two day course with a stay at Les Peupliers and discover the beauty and heritage of this part of the Loire along with sampling further aspects of Mike's cooking with his Gourmet Evening Meals each night and relaxing pampering beauty treatments in the on-site beauty room from Tracey.

Places will be limited to a maximum of five per class to ensure individual attention. Many aspects of modern cookery will be covered from basic knife skills such as dicing and slicing, to preparing tasty dishes and sauces to food presentation and of course tasting!!!

All students will be given their own ‘Les Peupliers’ apron and recipe folder to practice on friends and family when they return home.

About our region

Les Peupliers is located close to Saumur, within a triangle between Nantes and Tours (both fascinating places to visit and both with direct flights to the UK) and Le Mans, which of course is famous for its motor racing. Each is within easy driving distance.

The chateau at Saumur is reputed to be the inspiration for Walt Disney's fairy tale castle. The town itself is just as charming with its splendid medieval buildings, bustling market, National

Riding School, tank museum and cafes. Close by is also the famous Cointreau Museum and C.B.G.Mignot Collection of lead soldiers. The Loire river offers plenty of opportunities for the more energetic by way of its many water sports.

The area is renowned for its excellent wines, including Bourgueil, Cremant de Loire and Chinon & Saumur-Champigny, and no stay is complete without visiting a cellar and sampling some of them!

Whether relaxing by our large heated pool, reading in the shade of the chestnut trees, sampling fine cuisine, improving your culinary skills, being pampered with beauty treatments, attending art classes, or simply borrowing bicycles to cycle the poplar-lined, country road into the village, we aim to make your stay at Les Peupliers a relaxing and enjoyable one.
