our property La Closerie is a 15th - 17th century stonebuilt farmhouse, situated in the rural village of St Philbert du Peuple. We offer both self catering holidays and bed and breakfast accommodation. We are just 10 miles from the River Loire, and within walking distance of the forest. Here you will be able to relax in the midst of peaceful green surroundings, and we shall be delighted to welome you. Self Catering Accommodation (for 4/5 people) The self catering accommodation
is the ground floor of the 15th century building, it is
completely independent with private access and parking. A kitchen area with gas cooker, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and a utility room with washing machine. A comfortable and very spacious sitting/dining room (45m²) with TV & DVD. Bedroom 1 with twin beds. Bedroom 2 with a double bed and one large single bed. Shower room/WC Extra small bed and cot available. Self Catering Accommodation (for 6/8 people) The accommodation is the same as the above, but with an extra double bedroom, small sitting room with sofa bed, shower/WC. Central heating. All bed linen, including sheets, pillowcases and duvets are provided, as well as bath towels, tea towels and table cloths. Our guests always enjoy the lovely smell of fresh bread from the boulangerie next door. They appreciate the comfort and space of the gite and the secluded garden area for meals and BBQ. Bed and

About our region The Pays de la Loire is one of France's best loved regions. The area is ideal for visiting the famous châteaux, many of which are open to the public.Saumur is 18 km away - the chateau which should be open in 2007 following repairs. Saumur is a picturesque town by the river Loire, famous for the National Riding School, its 15th century château, and its museums, such as the Museum of Decorative Arts, where you can see examples of 13th century Limoges enamelwork, and tapestries dating from the 15th, 17th and 18th centuries. There are three swimming pools here, one of which is heated, and canoeing and sailing are also available. The area is equally well known for wine tasting and gastronomy. It is rich in troglodite dwellings, and this picturesque underground world is well worth visiting in detail. Entire villages, manor houses and chapels have been built underground in the Saumur area since the 12th century, and the dense labrynth of caves which were hewn out of the earth are now used for mushroom growing and as wine cellars. In the pretty village of
Moulinherne, 6 km away, there is a small lake for fishing
and swimming.
Nearer still is Longué, 3 km away, where there are
several supermarkets, horse riding and an outdoor
swimming pool. For golf lovers, there is a superb golf
course at Baugé, 10 miles away. Getting
