Self catering gites available for holiday rentals in Normandy, France.

Near La Ferte-Mace, in the Orne/Bocage area of Southeast Normandy

La Detourbe is a traditional Normandy Longhouse, set in extensive grounds, on the edge of the Andaines Forest (Foret des Andaines ) in the Normandy Maine Regional Park (Parc de Normandy Maine ). The surrounding countryside is ideal for outdoor activities.

Two fully equipped self contained Gites ideal for couples or families or which can also be rented together for larger parties.

Accommodation

The rental property is a barn conversion, with the owners living next door in the original farm house. In the conversion there are two fully self-contained, centrally heated gites, ideal for couples or families with young children, suitable for use throughout the year. Guests have full use of a large conservatory opening onto the sun terrace, at the rear of the property.

Gite 1  -  sleeps 2 + 2

This is a ground floor gite which has a large lounge, with a well equipped corner kitchen with dining area  and a large double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.  There is also a double bed-settee in the lounge.

Gite 2 – sleeps 7 + 2

Gite 2 has a large lounge with a well equipped corner kitchen and dining area. 

Off the lounge there is a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite shower room. 

The stairs from the lounge lead up to two further en-suite bedrooms.  Bedroom 2 has a double bed,  whilst Bedroom 3 has a double bed and a single bed.  There is also a double bed-settee in the lounge.

Facilities

In addition to the facilities in each Gite, there is access to a laundry room, off the sun terrace, which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and a dish washer. There is also ample garden furniture and a large barbecue, situated on the sun terrace. For young families we have available two put-u-up beds, a full size cot, two travel cots, a high chair and changing mat, plus a collection of toys. For young children there is a garden swing, sand pit and small and large paddling pools. For the more energetic we have available a selection of adult bicycles  ( bring your own safety helmets !! ). New boules court now available.

Conservatory and Grounds

The conservatory and sun terrace enable you to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful, very rural area of France as the property is set within two acres of open garden, with a variety of fruit trees, surrounded by fields and woods; on the edge of the Andaines Forest and within the Normandy Maine Regional Park

Rental Period:  From Saturday to Saturday, with arrival from 4pm.and departure by 10 am.

Shorter mid-week rental periods will be considered, except for July and August. For more information please contact us at La Detourbe.

Discount :  We offer a 10% discount for 2^nd successive weeks on the second week only

The price includes: Heating, hot water, electricity, gas, normal cleaning and bed linen and towels.  A dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, bikes, video library, cot, travel cots, high chair, barbecue and garden furniture are also available for use.

The price does not include : Telephone calls, extra cleaning, travel costs or holiday insurance.

About our region

The property is just 5 kms away from the small town of La Ferte- Mace , with a range of shops and restaurants, plus a beautiful lake with a sandy beach offering water sports, fishing and supervised swimming. Only 10 kms away is the charming spa town of Bagnoles-de-l’Orne , with its thermal baths, a good choice of restaurants and shops, sports facilities, a lakeside casino and golf course.

The property is situated 45 miles south of Caen, making it conveniently placed for most channel ports. There is easy access to places of interest such as the Normandy Landing Beaches , Bayeux with its famous Tapestry, the seaside towns of Deauville and Trouville , the picturesque port of Honfleur and a little farther afield the magnificent Le Mont St. Michel, the port of St Malo and the fishing port of Cancale, famous for its oysters. Paris is only a two hour train ride away, making an interesting day out.

Getting there

The two gites are within easy driving distance from the ports of St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg.

If you prefer to fly, the nearest airports are Cherbourg and Rennes both served by Flybe from Southampton Airport. Ryanair also fly into Dinard.
