  About our Normandy Holiday Home

Independent self catering holiday accommodation adjoining our family home.

Beautiful scenery, walking/cycling and picnic lakes in close proximity. Good touring base. Have the choice of a countryside retreat and enjoy the garden , or get out and about visiting the historic local towns and markets, coasts and points of interest.

Well behaved pets welcome.

Accommodation

Spacious lounge living area with log fire, TV, Video & DVD, CD players. Plenty of comfortable seating with dining area for 9 people

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, iron, washing machine, clothes dryer.

4 Bedrooms, one with ensuite, single beds (4), double beds (2) plus cot available.


Highchair available.

Family bathroom with separate WC.

Balcony / Terrace, Private garden, BBQ, Bicycles available

Linen and towels provided. The property is central heated.

La Ransonniere de Bas is furnished to a high standard, French doors open onto the garden or patio, front and rear.
The living accommodation is light and airy with a view from every window.

Originally the house was a small farm and traditionally built of granite, the exposed beams retain the farmhouse feel. It is surrounded by it's own fields for privacy and tranquility.


Approaching by a private drive, parking is available for up to 4 cars.

Walking/cycling track access to the rear of the property.

About our region

Beautiful countryside and historic towns and villages. Famous for butter, cream, cheese, cider and calvodos, Crepes/galettes. Usually a pleasant climate with hot summers. Plenty of fresh air!

Normandy is renowned for the best seafood in France.

Mortain has heated outdoor swimming pools with a view, a Saturday market and shops/bars and restaurants, an amazing aincient abbey "Abbaye Blanche" which is opposite the Grand and Petit cascades, good for walking and picnics,  Panaramic views, including a view of Mont.St.Michel can be seen from the viewpoint at La Petite Chapelle.

Mont.St.Michel is 30 mins away by car. Romagny, Mortain and area have plenty walking/cycle tracks, a lake nearby with slides and swings is great for picnics and pony trekking. We are 10 mins away from Bellefontaine park, panoramic restaurant and health club, also 10 mins away from The Enchanted village - for young children.

It is 1 hour to the sandy beaches near Granville, where trips to Jersey, Guernsey and the Chausey isles are run.

Our nearest pub/restaurant [Auberge] is 1.5km and serves lovely food and drinks lunchtime and evenings.

Bagnoles de l'Orne is a 25 drive throught the forest with its beautiful park and casino, spa waters , creperies and shops.

Local village shop/tabac 1.5km at Romagny.

St Hilaire du Harcouet is 10mins away and medieval Domfront is 20 mins away..

The D Day landing beaches and Bayeux are 1 hour away, passing St Lo where the "National Haras" has horse shows and displays.

Vire and Fougeres are 30 mins away and are good for shopping and a day out at a Chateau on the way. Locally there is a pottery museum at Ger and a cutlery workshop and museum at Sourdeval. Bike hire also available. There is a karting track at Mortain for all ages. We are approx 30 mins -1hr away to a selection of public flower gardens and arbories.

St Malo is 1 hour away and is a fascinating town still inside the city walls, looking out to sea. The Christian Dior museum at Granville has stunning sea views and is near to the mussel farms and sandy beaches. We keep a selection of tourist leaflets in the cottage for guests and are glad to assist in any way.
