our region Le Haut
de la Rue is the stone built farmhouse of a small farm on
the outskirts of an unspoilt village, Saint Germain
Langot, about midway between Falaise and the picturesque
and rugged countryside of the Suisse Normandie. It is also within a comfortable drive of the famous Bayeaux Tapestry, Le Mont St Michel, Rouen and even Paris on a good day. Falaise too has historic connec tions, being the birthplace of William the Conqueror. Ideally situated for a country break and just 45 minutes by car from the ferry port at Ouistreham (Caen), whilst not being excessively commercialised there is much to do including golf, horseriding, climbing, swimming, canoeing, windsurfing and even hang gliding and bungy jumping , should the fancy take you. There are museums to visit,
casinos to play in, theatres, churches, chateau, country
markets, and of course the famed Calvados restaurants to
enjoy. None is obligatory, naturally. Some may wish to
just wallow in the calm of the countryside, to enjoy the
occasional walk and to rest a while at a pavement café
or bar. The farmhouse at Le Haut de la Rue is centrally heated, comfortable and spacious. We are pleased to be able to offer a large 2 bedroomed family suite and a large double/ family room. In addition there is a large comfortable guests' sitting room with games and books for children and adults. And comfortable easy chairs to snooze in. Adjacent is the
dining room where breakfast
and dinner are served. When appropriate the fires are lit
to warm cold Outside is a paved terrace with garden furniture to use at leisure and the whole of Le Haut de la Rue is set in grassland of 5 acres planted with trees and shrubs. Both Sophie and Nell (1 Labrador and 1 Collie cross) do their best to make everyone welcome and will happily show you and the children the grounds. The
Family suite The large room has a full size double bed and a standard single divan, discretely placed. Each with bedside tables and lamps. There is a wardrobe, soft seating, a table and chair, and tea and coffee making facilities. The small room has 2 standard single beds with bedside tables and lamps, easy chair and wardrobe, suitable for 2 adults but designed with children in mind. Bedside rugs complete the comfort. The ensuite facilities comprise a modern thermostatic shower, toilet and washbasin, tiled and carpeted. The Large Double/ Family room (sleeps 2/4) The bedroom is superbly large for just a couple, but
is There is a single bed permanently set in the room which is normally left made up as a day bed for the odd doze, and ample space for a similar bed to be erected. Bedside rugs complement the polished wood floors. Ensuite

tiled bathroom with shower cubicle, bath, washbasin,
toilet and bidet. From Ferry Terminal at Ouistreham (Caen) Take the route Toute Direction and Autre Direction from the terminal and continue along the dual carriageway towards Paris. This should take you onto the road signposted Alencon' which is a major town some way beyond Falaise' which is the town to head for. This road takes you over a very large
bridge. You should be in fact on the perifique.Continue
to follow the signs towards Alencon Turn left towards Falaise on the route N 658. Continue on this dual carriageway for about 16kms (10 miles) and exit at the junction signposted Grainville Langannerie' and Estrees La Campagne. This exit brings you to a small roundabout but beware the slip road as it has a tight bend on leaving the dual carriageway. Turn left at this roundabout and continue
through Grainville Langannerie for a little under 3kms
and turn right for Ussy on the D43. In St Germain Langot take the first turning on the right - be careful it is well concealed immediately after a blue house but before a small garage - and is signposted 'Bonnoeil' D157. Continue for about 250m over 2 small speed bumps and take the first turning on the left. Take the first turning on the right after about 200m up what may appear like a track. You should find Le Haut de la Rue about 50m on the right. We are in fact the only house on the right up thiis lane.
