The gite is open all year round and is available for long term lets during the winter and in summer by negotiation. If you are thinking of buying property in this area, perhaps I can help and offer some advice to help you find what you are looking for.

La Coufaudiere is a small hamlet away from traffic but close to Lussac les Eglises and many other towns for convenient shopping. In Lussac les Eglises there is a well stocked Spar supermarket, two bakers, two bars, hairdressers, pharmacy, petrol pump and garage and it takes just a few minutes to drive to Lussac from the gite. Although there is another property in the village, it is at present unoccupied so that this is a really peaceful place to come if you feel the need for rest and relaxation. However, it is only 20 minutes from the A20 with easy access south to Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, where you will find the famous porcelain factories as well as many places of historic interest. About an hour to the north is Poitiers where a great day out can be had for all age groups at the famous theme park Futuroscope.

The Limousin is famous for its lakes and rivers and there are several swimming lakes close by that never seem to be busy even in the middle of summer. Plenty of other sporting activities can be found in the region and in the gite you will find a huge pile of brochures detailing what there is to do here.

About our property (sleeps 2/4)

The gite consists of:

A living room/kitchen on the ground floor with patio doors to a private patio and garden with table, chairs and barbecue. The room is light and airy with oak beams, a beautiful ancient oak and stone fireplace and a wood burner for use during the winter. There is a sofa bed, desk, coffee table, radio and cassette player, dining table and chairs etc.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, ample crockery, cutlery, glasses and barbecue equipment.

The bedroom with twin beds and a pretty shower room.

As mentioned above, the gite is self contained and the owner lives on site. The property has around 8 acres of land with horses, cats and poultry producing tasty free range eggs available to purchase by guests. In the summer months there are also organic vegetables and salad for sale.

As this is a very rural area, you would need a car to get around to enjoy the countryside and to visit places of interest.

Getting there

The area is convenient for travel by road, train and air. Travelling to the region by car takes approximately 5/6 hours from Le Havre, or 7/8 hours from Calais. There are daily flights from Stansted to Limoges with Ryanair. Hire cars are available at the airport.
