Our Gite is peacefully situated within a picturesque valley in the lower Fenouilledes foothills of the Pyrenees standing midway between two small villages, Le Vivier and Fosse . This tranquil location makes it an ideal base for exploring the region. The closest airports are Perpignan (50 minutes), Carcassonne (1.5 hours), Gerona in Spain and Toulouse (2 hours) flights available on low cost Ryan Air, Flybe and Easyjet .

Whether you simply like to laze in the sun, potter around discovering the outstanding mountainous scenery and pretty villages, or prefer to be more active and adventurous you will find our Gite an ideal location for your holiday.

The gite is part of an ancient water mill which has been artistically converted for the ideal location for your self catering holiday in the Pyrenees. Standing in 4 acres of meadows clothed with wild orchids in Spring, colourful butterflies and soaring buzzards, bordered by a tranquil stream fondly known as the babbling brook which is ideal for paddling on a hot summers day.

This charming region is full of history with its crumbling Cathar castles erupting from mountainous ridge tops, fabulous ancient cave painting’s still visible in certain caves today and the interactive museum for Prehistory at Tautavel.

Nicknamed ‘the lungs of Europe’ the seemingly endless forests are a wonder to behold, where you will enjoy many colourful butterflies, abundant wild flowers, rare fungi and birds of prey soaring above . If you are lucky you might even see the elusive wild boar, deer or stunning giant green lizards.

Local shops, including a butcher and general store are situated within five minutes drive from our gite in the pretty village of Le Vivier. There are several bars and restaurants within ten minutes drive in Caudies providing anything from a quick snack to a gourmet meal.

Within an hour you can visit the secluded rock pools at Pezilla, Roman Aqueduct at Ansignan, Gorges and plunge pools of Galamus at St Paul.

Mediterranean beaches for a day lazing in the sun to name just a few. Also within an hour's drive is the larger town of Perpignan (the gateway to Spain) with museums, restaurants, extensive shopping areas and enormous hypermarkets.

For longer days out, a drive of between an hour and two hours takes you to the walled city of Carcassonne (one of France’s most popular attractions), the duty free paradise of Andorra and the therapeutic thermal baths at Rennes les Bains. Choosing an inspiring day's outing is never a problem.

There are countless walks to satisfy people of any state of fitness. The long distance GR 36 trekking route across the Pyrenees passes close to our gite as well as many others. Details and maps available on request.

About our property

La Grange Gite (Sleeps 6)

This recently converted detached property has its own secluded setting with a westerly aspect for watching the beautiful sunsets.

La Grange features:

One large double, one bunk bed and one twin bedroom.

Separate bathroom with wc, bath, shower and washbasin.

Living Area is a comfortable lounge with wood burning stove perfect for a relaxing glass of wine. Sky television available offering all free to view channels.

Dining Area

The kitchen comes well equipped complete with microwave, fridge/freezer, hob and oven,washing machine and has its own private terrace area overlooking the meadows.

Terrace areas come equipped with garden furniture and barbeques.

Fosse Swimming Pool is open during July/August summer months.
Fosse offers Free access to the local swimming pool and tennis courts only 5 minutes walk and Le Vivier provides a general store and mini golf course, 10 minutes walk in the opposite direction.

We seek to provide and maintain a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere to all our guests. We our proud of our home, and strive to continuously maintain and improve to ensure our guests have an enjoyable and carefree holiday.

We are also happy to provide babysitting, bed linen and towels and an additional maid service if required, although there is a small charge for each.

Electric and fuel for wood burning stoves is charged for during winter months.

Getting there

Fosse stands in the Lower Fenouilledes Foothills approximately 60 Km west of Perpignan/80 Km south of Carcassonne. The closest airports are Perpignan (50 minutes), Carcassonne (1.5 hours), Gerona in Spain and Toulouse (2 hours) flights available on low cost Ryan Air, Flybe and Easyjet .

Prices and booking information

Changeovers are usually Saturday to Saturday, however we are happy to accept midweek bookings wherever possible – Mid and Low Seasons only. Reductions are available in the low seasons for longer lets.

We ask for a 25 % deposit on booking, the balance being due eight weeks prior to the commencement date of your holiday.

A damage deposit of £100.00 is payable at the time your final balance is due. This will be returned to you two weeks after your departure assuming no damage is found.
