Board Approved Languedoc holiday home Maison de Ensoleille is a extremely comfortable spacious village house and is situated in a quiet sunny street in the quaint village of Serdinya. Tastefully and totally refurbished in 2005 to a high standard this house boasts a sense of calm and total relaxation with every modern convenience. It is light and spacious and filled with sunshine, set in a tranquil setting and with all modern conveniences. The Mediterranean coast is 45 minutes, and the ski resorts 30 minutes. The bedrooms comfortably sleep 5 with ample space for everyone. There are no sofa beds. There is a pretty double bedroom with a double wardrobe and a modern en suite bathroom. A lovely 3 bedded
room (1
double bed and 1 single bed) A full family bathroom with bath and shower. Both bathrooms have hairdryers. There is a very spacious sunny south facing landing with a sitting area overlooking the village and mountains. Another perfect space for relaxation. We have an extra single bed should it be required, a travel cot, high chair and stair gate plus baby linen. The lounge/dining

About our region All ability walking from out of the front door, cycling, abseiling, horse riding, caving skiing, architecture, fishing, vineyards, coast, lakes - the list is endless. Serdinya is a pretty village in the Conflent Vally divided by the River Tet and having the advantage of access to coast and mountains. The village boasts a micro climate and averages around 320 sunshine days a year. It has the perfect climate and situation and offers the perfect getaway for either total relaxation or energetic sports. You choose. Relax in the sunshine on the high level balcony overlooking fabulous scenery of the café/bar/restaurant. Enjoy a coffee or one of fabulous home made meals served with a smile. This little café is a super facility for the village with a lovely atmosphere and friendly service. There is also a shop and a post office. George the baker visits 6 days per week just outside your door. Year round the scenery is spectacular with the changing colours of the seasons. Mount Canigou boasts a snow cap until the end of June as it is 2784 metres high. The perfect picture against a bright blue sky. The spring has an abundance of colour in the form of the peach and nectarine blosson, acres and acres of pink as far as you can see under the backdrop of the mountains. A truly breathtaking scene. Climate. The climate is fantastic almost all year round. This area averages 320 days a year of sunshine and is reputed to be one of the healthiest areas in the whole of France. The village has a microclimate, so it is never too hot, and the temperatures in the winter rarely drop below zero i.e January and February. From September through to December, it is brilliant. March brings with it the changing season coming into spring. There is snow higher up on the ranges on the ski resorts of course, and people ski in beautiful sunshine as a general rule. It is a rarity for the village to have snow, and if it does then it will be in January or February, and even then it is only a skittering, which melts away by 10 am. In March, April, May and June you have the beautiful spring blossom, the new growth of the vines and of course the beautiful spring flowers, followed later by the many butterflies. In the summer months of July and August, the average temperatrues are the middle to upper 20s. Wall to wall sunshine. Things to Do - Mountains and Coast The walled town of Villefrance de Conflent 5 mintues away, has excellent bars, restaurants, show caves and medieval fortifications. The town of Prades, 10 minutes, has a really good street market every Tuesday, good restaurants, 4 excellent supermarkets and hosts the famous Pablo Casals music festival held in August. Whether you want to meander or do serious walking in breathtaking surroundings, then this is the place for you. All ability walking is available in abundance from your doorstep! Also within easy reach are the four nature reserves of Py, Mantet, Nyer and Jujols, as is the Carlit Massif, a very popular region for walking the GR10 coast to coast path and Pyrenean route across the massif. There are both multi day and day walks to the interior from valleys on the outer rim. In addition, several summits are accessible to walk as well as challenging rock climbs. There are numerous gorge walks within 10 minutes from the house. Reference walking books and maps are on hand in the house for your convenience. The attractive town of Vernet Les Bains is 10 minutes and boasts thermal spas and has its own casino. From here you can take a 4 x 4 to visit the 10th century Romanesque monastery of St Martin de Canigou perched on a rocky outcrop of the mountain or take the track on foot. Catch Le Petit Train Jaune from Villefrance de Conflent Station 5 minutes and sit in one of the open carriages and take in the 360° vista of stunning beautiful scenery. Travelling through the Tet Valley, on to the plateau of Bourg Madame, climb up to Latour de Carol on the Spanish border, the highest commercial station in Europe, from where you can catch trains into Spain, including Barcelona. There is some 63 kms worth of the most spectacular mountain scenery passing through the many winter ski resorts. Wild flowers and butterflies in abundance. Stop off at any of the numerous stations for picnics and walks. An absolute must are the thermal baths of St Thomas les Bains, 20 minutes, which hosts 2 pools and a jacuzzi outside with a fabulous vista of mountains. The water temperature is constant at 36° year round. You will relax here. The ideal place for chilling out. There are treatments on offer too - brochures in the house on this. There are pretty walks in this area. Take a picnic, make a day of it, you won't regret it. The beautiful
Mediterranean seaside resorts of South East For a romantic seafood dinner head for Collioure with its templar castle and turquoise waters where you can watch artists at work. On the way to the coast, whether cross country or via the main road network, you will pass through colourful vineyards and acres of orchards, particularly beautiful in the spring with its pink blossom against a bright blue sky - magic. On the return journey take in the magical colours of Mount Canigou, different each day; a beautiful drive home. You will feel refreshed, looking forward to the chink of a wine glass in the calmness of the area whilst you dine on the terrace. This area is like

You can also use the very good rail service to Perpignan via Narbonne and catch the Little Yellow Train to Villefrance de Conflent.
