The Campsite

Del Mar offers excellent summer season facilities that will appeal to all ages. There is family entertainment available at the bar/restaurant and children's play area too. For the sporty there are tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a magnificent brand new swimming pool. Surrounded by palms trees the pool includes a kiddies' paddling area and sunbathing terrace.

There is also an on-site shop and launderette available.

The campsite is situated in Argelès-Sur-Mer, 25km (approximately 30 minutes drive), South of Perpignan.

Separated from Spain by the Pyrenees and boarded by the Mediterranean to the East, Argelès is only approximately 2 hours from Barcelona, giving the area a strong Catalan influence.

The site is planted with majestic pines, waving palm trees, Aloe Vera and other exotic Mediterranean plants and is situated close to a nature reserve. You may also see the local black squirrels that are said to be relatives of the red.

Only 500 metres stroll to the 7km long sandy beach, which has been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness, there are plenty of local attractions and places of interest.

Local Attractions & Places of Interest

Argelès-Sur-Mer is known as a place to visit all-year-round with its magnificent scenery and heritage to absorb. At the foot of the Albères Mountains (1157m) the village perfectly combines the countryside with the sea.

The Albères Mountains permit you to explore activities such as horse riding, mountain-biking, fishing and walking with tracks that lead you to discover other villages that boast Romanesque chapels, ancestral craft and the Sorède Train museum, to name but a few.

10 minutes from a championship golf course

The beaches are renowned for their water sports including wind surfing, snorkelling, water skiing, parascending, sea kayaking, pedalos and scuba diving. If this is not enough for water lovers then there is also a superb waterpark called Aqualand with rides available for all of the family.

For non- water based activities the local theme park offers fairground rides for all ages, mini golf, go-karting and an abundance of street markets with local crafts and wares.

On the seafront, a 3km tree-fringed promenade leads you to the harbour, Port Argelès, which offers pleasure cruises and fishing trips to enjoy during the day. In the evening there are an abundance of bars and restaurants, known locally as “Le Racou” which means Corner in Catalan.  Offering a range of night time activities for all tastes Argelès offers a cinema, bowling, experiencing the local casino or dancing the night away at one of the many nightclubs.

The area has a strong Catalan influence so although in the South of France you will see touches of Spain, including fruit, flowers and even the traditional costumes of Catalan dancers.

There is a little yellow road train which circulates around Argelès all year round enabling you to take a tour of the whole village. It extends its route to the outer reaches of Argelès from June until September. Alternatively there are taxis and buses available. Many prefer to hire bicycles and explore all of the little side streets - a healthy and leisurely way to get to see everything the area has to offer!!
