About
our region Our Gites are peacefully situated within a picturesque valley in the lower Fenouilledes foothills of the Pyrenees standing midway between two small villages, Le Vivier and Fosse . This tranquil location makes it an ideal base for exploring the region. The closest airports are Perpignan (50 minutes), Carcassonne (1.5 hours), Gerona in Spain and Toulouse (2 hours) flights available on low cost Ryan Air, Flybe and Easyjet . Whether you simply like to laze in the sun, potter around discovering the outstanding mountainous scenery and pretty villages, or prefer to be more active and adventurous you will find Moulin De Perle Pyrenees Gites an ideal location for your holiday. This ancient water mill has been artistically converted into three comfortable gites which are completely self-contained making them the ideal location for your self catering holiday in the Pyrenees. Standing in 4 acres of meadows clothed with wild orchids in Spring, colourful butterflies and soaring buzzards, bordered by a tranquil stream fondly known as the babbling brook which is ideal for paddling on a hot summers day. This charming region is full of
history with its crumbling Cathar castles erupting from
mountainous ridge tops, fabulous ancient cave
painting’s still visible in certain caves today and
the interactive museum for Prehistory at Tautavel. Local shops, including a butcher and general store are situated within five minutes drive to our gites in the pretty village of Le Vivier. There are several bars and restaurants within ten minutes drive in Caudies providing anything from a quick snack to a gourmet meal. Within
an hour you can visit the secluded rock pools at Pezilla,
Roman Aqueduct at Ansignan, Gorges and plunge Mediterranean beaches for a day lazing in the sun to name just a few. Also within an hour's drive is the larger town of Perpignan (the gateway to Spain) with museums, restaurants, extensive shopping areas and enormous hypermarkets. For longer days out, a drive of between an hour and two hours takes you to the walled city of Carcassonne (one of France’s most popular attractions), the duty free paradise of Andorra and the therapeutic thermal baths at Rennes les Bains. Moulinet Gite (Sleeps 5) The sitting room, complete with wood-burning stove overlooks the tumbling stream and peaceful countryside beyond. A walled private sheltered terrace provides a charming entrance to the cottage which has: Bedrooms - One
double, one bunk bed and one single bedroom. Bathroom with of shower, wc and washbasin.
La Bergerie Gite (Sleeps 3) This recently
renovated charming detached converted barn provides two
private terraces and its own driveway with shady parking.
The large open plan living/dining area is spacious and features a wood-burning stove and patio doors overlooking the lily pond. The bathroom consists a shower, wc and washbasin. It has all recently been converted. La Grange
Gite (Sleeps 6) La Grange features: One large double, one bunk bed and one twin bedroom. Separate bathroom with wc, bath, shower and washbasin. Living Area is a comfortable lounge with wood burning stove perfect for a relaxing glass of wine. The kitchen comes well equipped complete with washing machine and has its own private terrace area overlooking the meadows. All gites except
La Grange share a communal laundry room with automatic
washing machine. Fosse Swimming Pool is open
during July/August summer months. As Moulin De Perle is our home, we are always around should you have any questions or need any advice on what to do, where to go, how to get there – even the weather! We seek to provide and maintain a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere to all our guests. We our proud of our home, and strive to continuously maintain and improve to ensure our guests have an enjoyable and carefree holiday. We are also happy
to provide babysitting, bed linen and towels and an
additional maid service if required, although there is a
small charge for each.
Changeovers are usually Saturday to Saturday, however we are happy to accept midweek bookings wherever possible – Mid and Low Seasons only. Short breaks and Bed and Breakfast are also possible subject to availability. Reductions are available in the low seasons for longer lets and bookings for two or more properties.
