Our home, La Miraille, is at the edge of the old village centre of Olonzac, in the heart of the Minervois region of the Languedoc.  It is a “maison bourgeoise”, built in the first half of the nineteenth century, which we have been renovating for the last two years.  The house comprises three floors, with a stone-walled garden at the back, where you can enjoy breakfast, sit in the sun, swim in the pool, or just relax in the shade.  We offer bed and breakfast accommodation for up to six people in three rooms in peaceful and tranquil surroundings.

Our Rooms

We have two double rooms and one twin room, all with private facilities. Decorated in the Mediterranean style, the rooms are cool and stylish, two with large, luxurious bathrooms.

Breakfast is served in the garden or in the ground-floor breakfast room.

The breakfast room is in part of the restored barn. It is a large sunny room overlooking the garden and pool. Breakfast consists of tea or coffee, fruit juice, cereal, fresh croissants and bread, jams, and fruit in season.

Bedroom 1, in traditional style, overlooks the pool and garden and has a king-sized bed and large bathroom with antique roll-topped bath and separate shower.

Bedroom 2, in traditional style, overlooks the garden and has a king-sized bed and shower room.

Bedroom 3, in Moroccan style, overlooks the front forecourt and has twin beds and large bathroom with antique roll-topped bath and separate shower.

All three rooms are on the first floor and are decorated in artisan wall finishes and each has ensuite facilities and a hairdryer.

All rooms are centrally heated for your comfort throughout the year

The private garden faces south, is enclosed by old stone walls and is laid out in Mediterranean style.
 
There is plenty of space to lie on wooden sun-beds by the pool, or sit and relax in the shade. 

Ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility with local interest.

Our rates for two people sharing a room:

60€ per night
(5€ reduction for single occupancy)

Minimum stay 3 nights in July and August

Breakfast: €4 per person per breakfast

For reservations we require written confirmation and a deposit of 50%. 

We appreciate it if guests can arrange to arrive after 4pm on the day of arrival and to leave before 10am on the day of departure.

Whilst we love animals, we regret that we are unable to accept pets as we already have some of our own and they may not get on as well with other animals as they do with humans!

All parts of the house are non-smoking.

Our Region

Olonzac is the “capital” village of the historic wine-producing area of the Minervois.  It lies just below the foothills of the Montagne Noire to the north, with the Corbières hills and the Pyrenees to the south. 

The village has a lively market every Tuesday, one of the best in the area, and has several bars/cafés, restaurants, and shops.  Wander through the narrow streets of the old village, walk through the vines and into the hills, or cycle along the banks of the Canal du Midi, just minutes away.

Only half-an-hour in the car to the east takes you to the Roman town of Narbonne, and 10 minutes further to the beaches of the Mediterranean; 40 minutes to the west and you are in the medieval cité of Carcassonne.

The region is rich with things to do – you will never be bored!  As well as the nearby sea, hill-and flat walking and cycling, already mentioned, you can relax on a canal boat on the beautiful Canal du Midi, go horse-riding in the high plateaux of the Montagne Noire, or indulge in water-sports at the Lac de Jouarres, just three minutes drive from the house. 

Facilities

As well as the 4 bars/cafés, there are 3 bakers, various butchers, supermarkets, hardware stores, florist, hairdressers, bank, medical centre and dentists in the village, all within walking distance of the house. There are also a number of restaurants selling local produce at reasonable prices, as well as pizzas etc.

Within 10 minutes or so drive of the house there are a number of excellent restaurants. If you feel like venturing further afield and would like some advice, just let us know - we will be pleased to advise and to make bookings for you if you wish.

Getting There

Carcassonne airport is 40 minutes drive and is served by Ryanair (London, Dublin, East Midlands, Liverpool, Shannon and Brussels).

Béziers airport is under an hour away and served by Ryanair (Bristol).

Perpignan airport is under an hour’s drive and is also served by Ryanair (London), as is Montpellier airport (11/2 hours away).

Toulouse airport is 1½ hours’ drive and is served by British Airways, Air France and Easy Jet (London).

Girona airport in northern Spain is under 2 hours’ drive and is served by Ryanair from airports all over Britain and Europe.

Olonzac is around 12 hours driving time from the Channel ports and Narbonne is just 4½ hours from Paris by TGV, a wonderfully relaxing way to make your journey whilst taking in the varied countryside en route.
