  About our property

The first and most important piece of information is that the house is only 2-3 minutes walk from the centre of Marseillan. Just a short distance from the shops, banks, bars, and a wide and varied selection of FABULOUS RESTAURANTS.

On the ground floor there is a large shower room

A living room containing a large three seater settee which opens to provide a double bed. Or this room can be used as a cool French style sitting room.

On the second floor are the two main bedrooms each equipped with two single beds, all with very comfortable mattresses, and situated between these rooms is an additional toilet, hand basin, etc.

Then on the third floor is a beautiful light and airy kitchen/diner/sitting room with television, which leads out through patio doors onto a private roof terrace with a table and chairs for those wishing to take their meals outside or have a quiet drink before going out to a restaurant. (Forget the car, everything is in easy walking distance).

Further details indoors:

There is a television that recieves both English and French channels.

The living room on the ground floor can be used as a third bedroom as it has a large sofa bed, or may be used as a cool French style sitting room. The house has retained several of its original features, exposed roof beams, exposed masonery. Half way up the stairs the original stone basin where people would wash is no longer in use.

The stairs are a good size, not like some which are very narrow and steep. I take size 12 or 47 and they are fine for me.

Further details outdoors:

The terrace is very private where you may sunbathe, and not have to worry that you will be overlooked. A table, chairs and umbrella are provided. A good place to sit and plan your next day's activities, and have a cool drink.

About our region

If you are looking for a holiday that is stress free, situated in beautiful surroundings, the best there is to offer from shellfish and wine, you could not choose a better place to be than Marseillan, which the local population refer to simply as "Paradis sur Terre" (heaven on earth).

Marseillan is an ancient Greek Phocean town, founded in
the 6th century BC.

It has kept the authentic character of a fishing village on the shores of the Mediterranean and the Bassin de Thau, which is famous for its cultivation of oysters and mussels.

The town has many ancient Greek features and it is fascinating to walk through its tiny streets and discover the monuments, stones, gargoyles and individual doors of the houses which are steeped with the history of the Languedoc and the delight of the eye.

Places to note are the historic town hall, St John the Baptists Church, La Maison de Famille d' Achille' and not to mention the dozens of other historical and cultural landmarks which can be found around Marseillan. For a wealth of information, please visit our website www.pernic.co.uk

Marseillan area

There are many things to see and do in the Marseillan area. For those sun worshippers, you can visit Marseillan Plage which is only two ahd a half kilometres from the town. Here you will also find Marché aux Puce every Sunday morning, a flea market with many bargains to be had.

Here also you have 18 km of safe sandy beach that stretches from Cap d'Agde to Sete. Or if you feel like doing something slightly more active there's the Canal du Midi where you can enjoy cycling, walking, a spot of fishing and canoeing too.

Then for a taste of some local seafood you can visit the Etang de Thau where it is possible to take a short tour by boat of the oyster and mussel beds before visiting one of the many restaurants.

Just a short distance away you will be able to find Domain de Moure - a local wine producer, or in the town centre there is the Domaine Madeleine St Jean.

Close to the marina you will find the Cave Cooperative. Here you can buy wine by the bottle or en vrac (loose). Some fantastic duty free shopping isn't too far away either, in the small town of Perthus which is on the Spanish border one and a quarter hours approximately.

If these things are not enough there are plenty more attractions like Le Pont du Gard and the Abbaye de Valmagne which are definitely worth visiting.

A short drive from the house towards St Tibery you will find a perfect example of a Roman bridge. It is most beautiful and the perfect place to have a picnic.

Also at Sete on market day there is a street market which occupies several streets in the town. There is hardly a thing you cannot buy in this market, including roasted chickens.

You will certainly not be at a loss for things to do here!
