  About our Region

Agde, the "Black Pearl of the Mediterranean,"
Agde - a lively fishing port lies on the Côte d'Or at the junction of the Canal du Midi with the sea. There are miles of sandy beaches, limitless sunshine and fishing boats still moor at the quays of this cheerful and colourful port, the second oldest town of France - a maze of picturesque streets full of shops, restaurants, café bars and with a colourful open market on Thursday mornings. Yet we are only five minutes from the vibrant resort town of Cap d'Agde which offers the usual pleasures of the Mediterranean - night clubs, cinemas...and the famous naturist quarter! It is an easy drive to Carcassonne, the Camargue and the castles of the Cathars.

Agde flies two EU blue flags for the quality of its beaches and environment. Local activities in the region include an 18 hole golf course, tennis, fishing, cycling, horse riding, sailing and water sports, and of course, wine tasting.
