  About our apartments

Mas de Puech, started in 1804 and built on arched cellars, consists of several buildings situated around a central courtyard, the property was designed as a self contained estate with its own vineyard. All the buildings are south facing, and surrounded by aromatic plants, as well as Mediterranean trees and vines.

The Farmhouse consists of two separate buildings joined
together by a central courtyard. The seven individually designed self catering apartments are on two separate levels and will cater for all of the requirements you may have.

Each apartment has its own private terrace and the old stable has been converted into a room with vaulted ceiling that can be used for meetings, wine tasting or just a quiet place to read.

The large swimming pool with its own terrace, changing room, toilet and shower was completed in June 2005.

The Mas (old French farmhouse) is situated within its own vineyard and at present has 18 hectares (45 acres) of vines under cultivation, together with another 20 hectares (50 acres) of Garrigue (native Mediterranean vegetation). At the present time we are in the middle of extensive vine replanting programme.

The grape varieties grown include:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Grenache.

All of the wine lovers amongst you will be in heaven with the 'degustation' experience.

Apartment 1: Cabernet Sauvignon

3 bedrooms - Sleeps 6

The apartment consists of two stories joined by classical winding stairs with preserved stone walls.

Downstairs:
The dining / living room with its period plaster work and stone fireplace has direct access to the terrace. The dining table and sideboard are made from solid oak.

The kitchen with painted solid oak doors and marble worktop has top of the range built in Bosch appliances: dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and oven.

There is one toilet with wash basin unit and large mirror.

Upstairs:
There are 3 bedrooms; (2 with double beds, 1 with twin bed) all bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and bed-side lockers.

The fully tiled bathroom has separate shower and bath, the adjacent separate toilet has its own wash basin.

Apartment 2: Carignan

3 Bedrooms - Sleeps 6/8

This single storey apartment is situated in the oldest part of the Mas, (which was constructed in 1804) and has many original features of the building retained.

The Large Dining/Living Room has views of the vines. The couch can be converted into a double bed.

There are 3 Bedrooms; 1 with double bed and en-suite fully tiled shower & wash basin, plus a built in wardrobe.

The other two bedrooms have a double and 2 single beds, solid Pine Wardrobes and bedside lockers.

The main tiled bathroom has bath/shower, wash hand basin unit and toilet.

There is an adjacent toilet with wash hand basin.

The kitchen with its solid oak painted doors is fully equipped with built in appliances and marble worktop, is south facing and overlooks the courtyard.

Apartment 3: Sauvignon

3 Bedrooms - Sleeps 6/8

This apartment  has views to the North & South of the Mas as well as its own private terrace accessed from the master bedroom overlooking the courtyard.

The Dining/Living Room has views over the terrace and courtyard. The couch can be converted into a double bed.

The kitchen with its solid oak painted doors is fully equipped with built in appliances and marble worktop.

There are 3 Bedrooms, (Master bedroom with twin bed and mezzanine (can accommodate two folding beds if required), 1 bedroom with twin beds, all bedrooms have pine wardrobe and bedside lockers.
The main mezzanine can accommodate up to 2 single beds.

The bathroom has a fully tiled walk in shower and wash basin with marble top.

The tiled toilet has its own wash hand basin.

Apartment 4: Chardonnay

2 Bedrooms + Mezanine Bedroom - Sleeps 6/8

This attractive apartment has its own covered terrace area and views of the vines and village.

The kitchen with its solid oak painted doors is fully equipped with built in appliances and marble worktop

The Dining/Living Room also has views of the vines and village; the couch can be converted into a double bed if required.

There is one downstairs bedroom with double bed. 

The downstairs bathroom has tiled shower and toilet with wash hand basin and marble top.

Upstairs there is one bedroom with double bed and a Mezzanine Bedroom with 2 single beds.

The upstairs toilet has shower, toilet and wash hand basin with marble top.

Apartment 5: Cinsault

2 Bedrooms - sleeps 2/6

This single storey, bright attractive apartment has easy access, adjacent to the gardens the scents of the flowers and sights of the butterflies can be enjoyed while relaxing on the terrace.

The kitchen with its solid oak painted doors is fully equipped with built in appliances and marble worktop

The Dining/Living Room with its own terrace has views of the garden and the garrigue. The couch can be converted into a double bed if required.

There is one Bedroom with double bed and one bedroom with two single beds. Both bedrooms have pine wardrobes and bedside lockers.

The tiled bathroom has a shower, with wash basin and marble top.

The separate toilet has its own wash basin.

Apartment 6: Viognier

2 Bedrooms - Sleeps 2/6

This single storey, attractive apartment has easy access; its large patio windows give it a bright airy feeling.

The kitchen with its solid oak painted doors is fully equipped with built in appliances and marble worktop.

The Dining/Living Room with large patio doors and its own terrace has views of the garden and the garrigue.

There is one bedroom with double bed and one bedroom with two single beds. Both bedrooms have pine wardrobes and bedside lockers.

The tiled bathroom has a shower, with wash basin and marble top.

The separate toilet has its own wash basin.

Apartment 7: Syrah

3 Bedrooms - Sleeps 6

A feature of this large apartment is the original wooden beams, which formed part of the original building (constructed in 1894).

The spectacular mezzanine is accessed by a winding wooden staircase and can be used for reading and relaxation. There are magnificent views of the surrounding area, village and vines from the many windows in this
apartment.

The large and spacious Dining/Living Room features a solid oak dining table and chairs and a wood burning stove for guests staying in spring or autumn.

There are 3 Bedrooms (two with a double bed and one with twin beds). All bedrooms have pine wardrobe and bedside lockers.

The bathroom has separate bath and shower, toilet and wash basin with marble top.

There is also a separate toilet with wash basin.

The large kitchen has painted solid oak doors, marble worktops, and built in Bosch oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine & electric/gas hob.

Activities in and around the Mas de Puech

The Mas is situated in the middle of its own vines and it is possible to walk for miles through the vines and garrigue, with only the natural beauty and flora and fauna of the area for company.

If you are feeling more energetic and want to explore further there are bicycles (with all safety gear) suitable for all ages available for exclusive use by our guests.

Alternatively if you are feeling less energetic you can laze by the pool and read a book from the library.

The beautiful stable (ecurie) with its floor lighting is used as a library with a good selection of paperback books. This room, with its solid oak bar is also used for wine tasting (we can taste local wines as well as wine from other areas that we source for our wine company) and informal gathering of the guests during the week.

Around the pool there is table tennis and electronic darts.

Within easy reach of the Mas the following activities are available:

Climbing, Walking, Water sports, Karting, Fishing, Museums and Sites of Special Interest.

St Jean de Serres is situated 10 kms from Anduze, the gateway to the Cévennes; this thriving town has restaurants, supermarkets, cafes; an excellent market on Thursdays, a flea market on Sundays and the Steam Railway that will take you to St. Jean du Gard. Visit the Bambouseraie (the largest collection of bamboos in Europe). The area is renowned for its pottery.

Places to Visit:

Nīmes with its Roman amphitheatre and busy shopping areas.

Montpellier with its beautiful baroque buildings and elegant parks.

Avignon with its famous bridge and the palace of the Popes.

Arles the home of Van Gogh.

The world heritage site, Pont du Gard and by way of contrast the Viaduc de Millau the highest motorway bridge in the world.

Uzčs on a Saturday for its busy and popular market.

Mount Aigoual and its observatory in the Cévennes National Park.

The medieval towns of Sommieres , Sauve and Quissac.

The wild and wonderful Camargue with its wild horses and flamingos.

The Mediterranean Coast, with its beautiful beaches and small fishing ports.

All these areas of interest are within easy reach of Mas de Puech.


Getting there

St Jean de Serres is easily accessed from Paris, the UK and Ireland via excellent air road and rail links. Below are some approximate timings for getting to Mas de Puech from different places.

Use of a car is essential for your stay at Mas de Puech.

Nimes Airport: 50 mins by car, served by Ryanair (Luton, Stansted and Liverpool).

Marseille Airport: 1hr 45mins by car, served by BA (Gatwick) and Aer Lingus (Dublin); Easy Jet (Gatwick). Ryanair will be flying Dublin to Marseilles from March 2006.

Carcassonne Airport: 2 hours by car, served by Ryanair (Stansted and Dublin).

Montpellier Airport: 1hr 15mins by car, served by Ryanair (Stansted); BA (Gatwick).

Lyon Airport: 3 hours by car, served by Ryanair (Stansted);BA (Heathrow, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester) Air France (Paris) and Aer Lingus (Dublin); Easy Jet (Stansted).

Toulouse Airport3 hours by car, served by BA (Gatwick); Easy Jet (Gatwick); BMI (Manchester); BE (Birmingham); Aer Lingus (Dublin)

By Train : Eurostar, Waterloo-Paris/Paris-Nīmes (3 hrs).

By Car : Calais/Boulogne - Nīmes: motorway via the A26, A5, A31, A6, A9 .
