In the department of Aude in Languedoc-Roussillon is our lovingly restored house dating back more than 200 years, complete with exposed beams and stone walls.

Set in the quiet village of Antugnac, renowned for its Blanquette wine and with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside from the enclosed, landscaped garden.

We offer our guests peace and tranquility and a perfect location for exploring the hills, lakes and numerous castles. We are in the heart of the Cathare region, an hours drive from the nearest ski slopes, one and a half hours from Andorra and the Spanish border and one hour from the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean.

Bed & Breakfast Rooms

We have three double bedrooms, two with en-suite shower rooms and one with en-suite bathroom. All rooms have tea and coffee facilities.

Lavender room has a king-size bed and bath, while the Poppy and Bluebell rooms have showers.

Breakfast is served on the terrace - weather permitting - otherwise in the large dining room with log fire on chilly days.

We provide a comfortable lounge and dining area for eating and relaxing in, shared by the guests.

If all you want to do on your holiday is relax, how about lounging by the pool in our lovely private garden and maybe having a BBQ after a long, lazy day.

For those who require it, secure parking is available within the grounds.

There is also free Internet access. Guests are requested not to smoke in the house.

Prices and Booking Information (Euros)

Tariffs are per room (not per person), and include a substantial breakfast with fresh croissants, bread, orange juice, local meats and cheeses, marmalade and jam.

Out and about in Aude

A short car journey will take you to the quaint town of Limoux with its unique carnival throughout January to April and its weekly market selling local produce.

On to Alet-les-Bains, where you can take the thermal waters along with Rennes-les-Bains, famous for its hot springs and Roman baths.

Then to Rennes le Chateau, renowned for its mystery and intrigue - "Where did Saunier hide his treasure?" Not to be missed is a visit to Carcassonne with its fairytale castle and the Canal de Midi.

Holiday Activities

If you want to do more than relax and laze by the pool all day there are numerous walks outside the village through the vine yards, up into the hills with wonderful views of the snow capped Pyrenees on a clear day.

If that's not strenuous enough, how about kayaking down the river Aude or swimming in one of the beautiful lakes nearby, or even horse riding.

Of course we are close to the Pyrenees where you could go snowboarding, skiing or sledging.

Activities in Aude, South France

Antugnac is well known for its Blanquette,a sparkling wine which is said to pre-date Champagne. A quiet working village surrounded by vineyards and boasting beautiful views and lovely walks.

We are 5 mins from Esparaza, famous for its dinosaur and hat museums and Sunday market. The larger towns of Quillan and Limoux with shops, restaurants and weekly markets are a short drive away.

Water sports including canoeing,kayaking and white water rafting can be found in the area. It is possible to swim in the clear waters in some parts of the river Aude as well as in the beautiful lake at Arques or if you prefer the thermal pools at Rennes les Bains or Alet les Bains with their famous healing properties.

There is pony-treking on the local horses of the Camargue or cycling through the Pyrenees. We are 1½ hours from The Med with its long golden beaches, where the world windsurfing championships are held.

Winter sports abound!!! We are 1 hour from the nearest ski slopes where you can not only ski but toboggan,snowboard or even go on dog sleighs!

Of course there is also the rich history of the area known as the Cathare country where you will find numerous ruined castles perched on rock promontories,historical sites and museums. Also the chance to investigate the intriguing stories of the search for the Holy Grail.

If you enjoy a little flutter from time to time we even have a Casino!!

Getting there

Antugnac is situation in the department of Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains. It is about 35 km South of the medieval city of Carcassonne, between the towns of Limoux and Quillan, near to Esperaza.

Airports are:

Carcassonne 35km, Perpignan 60 km, Toulouse 100km, Montpellier 190km and Barcelona 270km.
