our property Set in the heart of Cathar country, our 17th century guesthouse, La Giraudasse, is an ideal base for exploring the Corbières region. The lofty Cathar castles of Peyrepertuse and Queribus, and the spectacular Galamus Gorge are just a few of the famous sights neaby. La Giraudasse, named after the stream which runs alongside it, is located in the small, picturesque and quiet village of Soulatgé in the South of France. Accommodation
La Giraudasse has five guestrooms, all with quality bedding, mostly south facing and affording a magnificent view of the mountains and the rocky outline of the castle of Peyrepertuse. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom with shower and WC. Smoking is not permitted in the guestrooms. Its beautiful

experience as a chef working all over the world Quality meat and fish with all kinds of vegetables are prepared with all the savoire fair of a true epicure. Occasionaly, guests may detect a strain of tango music emanating from the kitchen, reminding the chef of his origins. Our south facing terrace and garden provide the perfect place to relax. During the summer, breakfast and dinner are served on the terrace. Breakfast is served with three types of organic bread and a large selection of home made jams. There are 5 guestrooms, three of which can sleep two people and two which can sleep three.The house is non-smoking. We regret that pets are not allowed. Booking conditions 20% deposit is requred to secure your booking. We are unable to accept payment by credit card. Arrival time is between 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm, and departure by 10.00 am. Evening meals are served from 7.45pm until 8.00 pm, preceded by a complimentary apéritif. Breakfast is served from 8.30 until 9.00 am. No arrival and no evening meal on Wednesday. Closing
period : mid-November through mid-March. Places of interest in the region include: The Cathar Castles of Peyrepertuse, Queribus, Puylaurents, Aguilar, Villerouge-Termenès and Termes. Also nearby are the Galamas Gorges, the abbey of Fontfroide, the famous Rennes le Château, the pretty village of Lagrasse and the Roman aqueduct of Ansignan. Hiking and Cycling From garrigues (Mediterranean scrubland) and vineyards to mountains and forests, this region offers a great variety of contrasting landscapes. Beyond the roads, many trails will lead you to the secrets of this region, inhabited since prehistoric times. Hikes from our bed & breakfast From our bed & breakfast there is a variety of walks of different lengths. A short very easy 2 hour walk in the valley of Soulatgé, a 5 hour round trip to the castle of Peyrepertuse, following a Cathar trail (GR. 36). A 6 hour round trip to the Gorges of Galamus, following a Cathar trail (GR. 36). In addition, there are many other beautiful trails in the surrounding area, such as Padern, Bugarach, Montgaillard, etc. Information on these and other walks is availabe in our guesthouse. Bathing There are many streams where you can go swimming, such as the Verdouble, the Agly and the Orbieu. Of particular interest are the Gorges of Galamus (10 km) and the waterfall of Duilhac sous Peyrepertuse (8 km). You can go swimming close to our village in the River Verdouble. The beaches of the Mediterranean are approximately one hour away. Canyoning Mountain Biking. Mountain biking trails nearby are detailed in the guide 'VTT dans les Corbières et les Pays Cathars,' available in the guesthouse. Tennis Tennis is
available at Laroque de Fa (14 km) and quad bikes can be
hired at Cucugnan. Horse riding is available at
Cassaignes. Soulatgé is located in the Corbières region of southern France, in the Aude department. 50 km from Perpignan and the Mediterranean (1 hr). 70 km from Carcassonne (1.5 hrs). 265 km from Barcelona (2.5 hrs). By plane: Perpigna, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Gerona and Barcelona airports. By train: An hour's drive from Perpignan.
