About our region

Sallèles is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful area. To the west and south-west lie the wine growing regions of the Minervois and the Corbières, respectively. Pretty villages, prehistoric sites, spectacular Cathar castles, caves, rivers, lakes, impressive mountains, fruit farms and olive groves; are all to be found here.

Going south-east we come to the Mediterranean and its long stretches of sandy beaches, like Gruissan Plage and Narbonne Plage.

The 240km long Canal du Midi, a World Heritage Site, meanders through our area and pays a call at Sallèles.

Beyond our immediate region , but well within a couple of hours' drive are the Languedoc National Park, Andorra, the Pyrénées and Spain. The road and rail connections from Narbonne are excellent.

The two most impressive man-made sites that demand a visit are the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne and the Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard, at Nîmes.
