This apartment is in the perfect position either to enjoy a seaside holiday or to explore the hinterland and medieval cities.

Narbonne-Plage is a friendly and unpretentious resort with an authentic French feel, unspoilt by any high-rise buildings along its 5 km of wide, sandy beach.

It holds the Pavillon Bleu for its excellent water quality and beach cleanliness.

Bars, shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance of the apartment, and in high season, free live music is staged on the seafront.

The local tourist office has the latest information about events and festivities.

Although the summer months may be its liveliest time, Narbonne-Plage can be just as pleasant out of season for different reasons, with some restaurants and shops staying open all year round (there are permanent residents and a local school) and still plenty of things to do such as cycling, hill walking, horse-riding, mountain-biking, sight-seeing, wine-tasting ......

The Apartment Accommodation

Situated in a résidence of privately owned apartments, and with wonderful views of the marina, beach and Mediterranean, our apartment offers bright and comfortable accommodation.

The lounge area has two new sofas, a folding table with four chairs, two bar stools, a bookcase and a small TV (French channels) and a DVD player.

The kitchen area includes a gas cooker and a new microwave, filter coffee-maker, kettle, fridge, washing machine and a large storage cupboard with crockery and glasses.

Bedroom 1 has a comfortable 5-foot bed, wall mirror, fitted cupboard with wardrobe rails and shelves, iron & ironing board, electric fan.

Bedroom 2 has two new single beds plus a travel cot which is stored under one of the beds (and a high-chair under the other), fitted cupboard with shelves and hooks, clothes airer, wall mirror.

The apartment has its own entrance to the building with its own parking space right outside. From here, there is direct access to the promenade, marina and beach.

The Region

There's no shortage of things to do and in the apartment you will find local maps and plenty of leaflets of interest.

The marina centre offers a sailing and windsurfing school, diving, fishing and various boating courses.

Cycles and other pedal-powered vehicles plus roller-blades can be hired locally and are a great way to get about.

The long promenade is perfect for this. Behind Narbonne-Plage lies the “Massif” with its miles of paths suitable for walking, horseriding or mountain-biking.

More leisurely cycling can be had along the coastline’s designated paths. Just across the bridge lies neighbouring St. Pierre-la-Mer with its restaurants, colourful daily market, and on its outskirts a "base de loisirs" where a friendly English/French outfit offers family fun from pedalo & canoe hire to kitesurfing courses.

There's horseriding in the area and younger children might like to visit the local "Poney Club" and mini farm.

The city of Narbonne, about 12 km inland from the beach, offers plenty of shops, pavement cafés and markets (call in at the famous indoor food hall), plus the Canal de la Robine, an off-shoot of the Canal du Midi, where you can hire boats or stroll along its banks under the trees.

On the outskirts of the city there are commercial centres with hypermarkets, and excellent sports and leisure facilities can be found at the Espace de Liberté.

There are plenty of wine-tasting opportunities in the area, one of the closest being at Château de l’Hospitalet, where you can also browse craft shops.

Further afield you could visit Montpélier, Carcasonne or Perpignan (from where you can take the Train Jaune up into the Pyrenees.)

Or, you could just laze on the beach all day!
