About our region
Out and About in Brittany
L'Orangerie De Lanniron has some great activities to offer all the family.
You will find two play areas, a kiddies play pool, large heated swimming pool and NEW for 2009, a large Aqua Park with toboggan, slides, waves, cascade, jacuzzi etc, pony trekking, boulles, bicycle hire from tots to adults, tennis, football, basketball, ping-pong and much more, including a kids club in high season.
Brittany has some dramatic, scenic coastline as well as fine sandy beaches, there are ancient cities, nature trails, zoo, fun parks, golf courses, sea-life centre, markets and lots, lots more. We feel our home makes a great base for exploring not only Quimper, but the surrounding area of Finistere and no matter what your interests are, we hope you'll have fun in discovering all you enjoy in this unspoilt, pretty corner of Brittany.
For The Kids
There's lots going on to entertain younger ones. Apart from the campsite activities, there's a bowling alley, zoo, sea-life centre, theme park, go-karting, adventure climbing park, indoor pool, skate-boarding, paint-balling and lots more.
Quimper
Quimper (pronounced Kemper) is the closest city to our mobile homes. Quimper is within walking distance of L'Orangerie De Lanniron.
Quimper is a beautiful medeival city in the heart of Brittany, and hosts an array of shops (including traditional bakeries and confectioners), bars, museums, restaurants, all set in original tudor buildings and cobbled streets. Plus the famous St Corentin twin spired Gothic cathedral dating back to the 12th Century.
Benodet Beach Resort
Benodet is the nearest seaside resot, it boasts lovely golden sands, edged with wooded dunes and a gently shelving sea. It is ideal for a relaxing day out.
There are some lovely seaside restaurants and little gift shops along the pretty promenade. For adult holidaymakers why not try out Benodet's casino?
Fouesnant
Fouesnant is a small yet very attractive village, hosting a few shops, bars and restaurants and is just a short car journey away, situated between Benodet and Concarneau. It's lovely for a quiet stroll down to the sheltered beach. Fouesnant is the Cider making capital of the area and is also famous for the elaborate, traditional french headdresses.
Concarneau
Concarneau is about a half hours ride away from Quimper, it's very popular with tourists who are intrigued with its 'Inter Muros' the Inner Walled City, full of character. Lots of lovely eating places, gift shops, novelty stores, traditional clothing and picnic areas. Friday is market day.
Pont Aven
Pont Aven is a small village full of charm and beauty. It has a special place in history due to so many artists, both locally and internationally, capturing the many beautiful scenes onto canvas. It really is well worthy of a visit. Tuesday is market day and although it is a large market, nothing is spoilt by it.
Locronan
A particular favourite of ours. A quaint village where no building is less than 200 years old ! You will find lots of shops selling local merchandise and a glass works selling beautiful pieces and you can also see the glass-blowing. Good sized car park for visitors. Some very nice restaurants or take a picnic.
Carnac
A pre-historic site with approximately 3,000 ancient stones arranged in parallel lines and stretches for two miles. Point Du Raz is also worth a visit, it is the equivalent of our Lands End. Go out to this craggy piece of Land and look out at the vast Atlantic Ocean - breathtaking !!
Lorient and Brest
Lorient and Brest are both a little further afield, about an hour's car journey from the campsite. They are very large cities, with all the big shops here for serious shoppers and bargain hunters.
Isles de Glennan
The Isles De Glenan are a short boat journey away from the coast. Experience a day in idyllic surroundings, clear blue sea and pale sands, next best thing to the Bahamas !! Please contact us if you would like a leaflet about either of our holiday destinations.
