About our region
Hillside holiday cottage has a beautiful riverside location in the charming ancient village of Léhon, in Brittany France 25 minutes from St Malo or 15 minutes from Dinard airport (cheap flights by Ryanair).
It has recently been awarded the status of ‘Petit cite de Caractere’ which means it is in the top 30 most beautiful locations in Brittany. You can walk a hundred metres to Léhon's 11th century castle and 13th century abbey, heated open air swimming pool (three pools and a slide) or tennis courts, pavement café and restaurant.
The traditional boulangerie and Tabac bar are close by at the top of the village. Dinan and local supermarkets are only a 3 minute drive or you can stroll along the towpath from the cottage into medieval Dinan’s lively pleasure port.
A shortcut footpath uphill leads to the ramparts of Dinan with its castle, narrow cobbled streets, pavement cafés, markets, galleries, shops and churches and tree-lined squares, and it is only 20-30km to a host of beautiful beaches.
Walking, cycling or even boating up the Rance river between the two locales is pleasant and relaxing. Also popular is the Emerald Coast where one can hike the coastal paths or lounge on its warm, sunny beaches.
The beaches below the ramparts at St. Malo and to the east are special favourites along with Le Nicet beach in Rotheneuf, East of St Malo.
Leisure:
Léhon has its own indoor and outdoor tennis courts while Dinan boasts a new indoor sports complex. The open air swimming pool at Léhon in the Abbey grounds has 3 heated pools open all year round. There is also an indoor one at nearby Dinan. One will find golf courses at Dinard (10 miles) and Le Tronchet (5 miles).
Hiking and biking can also be booked.
Tourism: Also in the area of the Emerald coast (20km north) are enormous sandy beaches, Mont St Michel, castles, manoirs, aquariums, zoos and museums.
Nearby is St. Malo which boasts many attractive restaurants, souvenir shops, and cafés within its walls. Its cobblestone streets and bustling courtyards create a terrific atmosphere.
Parks: Water parks and Nature Parks are also not far away such as Amorica Nature Park. The house stocks leaflets on all the places of interest, maps and guides.
