About our region
At the heart of this enchanting valley, lies Chamonix at the foot of Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc (4,807m). A traditional but lively resort which attracts visitors from all over the world.
Chamonix's history as a mountaineering and skiing resort has evolved over the last two centuries.
The resort is situated at the crossroads of France, Italy and Switzerland and gives easy access to the Italian resort of Courmayeur (via the Mont Blanc tunnel), in the Aosta valley.
The town has a range of excellent sporting and leisure facilities which makes this resort an attraction all the year round. There are many types of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.
Bars and cafés are in abundance. Summer activites include walking (310 km of marked trails), mountaineering (we can put you in touch with a reliable guide), rock climbing and golf.
The 18 hole par 72 course at Chamonix is in a wonderful setting and is open to visitors and guests every day from May to November and includes open air and covered practice areas.
Other activities in the area include swimming, paragliding, tennis, cycling, fishing and mountain biking.
In early spring and autumn we have weeks when people who wish to paint in the mountains can receive advice from the owner of Chalet Vasa, who is a renowned artist in the valley.
