About the region
You are located 15 mins from the historic town of Dinan with its many cobbled streets, shops, cafes bars and restaurants and of course the famous ramparts with its medieval festival occurring every 2 years (next one 2012).
Explore the ramparts and rambling cobbled streets with a visit into the beautiful churches, then finish the day in one of the many restaurants serving crepes, seafood delights and French cuisine.
Dinan centre looks down onto the port, where a steady stroll takes you down into the heart of the port and an array of cafe bars, restaurants, most of which have seating/terrasses where you can look onto the many boats moored there.
Small self drive crafts are available to hire which take you through the many locks.
Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the sights of Brittany or you can go on a guided tour boat following the Rance towards St Malo.
For those who want a beach holiday the question is which one! There are many golden sandy beaches along this part of the coast the nearest St Jacut is a 15 minute car ride away with its little quiet bays overlooking the mussel beds.
For the energetic you can hire kayaks, pedalos or sand yachts. Further down the road is St Cast with a long sandy safe beach. If golfing is of interest then the nearest 9 hole golf course is at St Michel de Plelan 5 minutes from the cottage. For those keen golfers there is the 18 hole course at Dinard only 30 minutes by car.
If shopping is your thing try the weekly markets. Dinan has a huge Thursday market in the centre of the town selling local fresh food and local made gifts.
