This beautifully renovated 5 bedroomed 18th century farmhouse is magnificent, and is set in a small hamlet well away from main road and set within its own landscaped gardens.  It offers panoramic views across the open countryside, from the edge of a conservation area and five minute's drive from a sandy-edged  lake in which fishing is permitted, and which offers 11 kms of lake-side walks.  Rennes, Nantes, Vitré and Angers are the nearest cities, for those up for a little exploring.

The large private heated swimming pool (8x4m and 1.4m deep) is open mid May to mid-September and is set in a walled garden beside a fully equipped day room and BBQ with a drinks fridge and interior and exterior dining areas, including huge chunky picnic tables in a shaded area.  The garden and pool lighting offers you ambient surroundings for evening entertaining. 

There is also a pond, complete with Koi Carp, in a fenced off garden, for your child's security but access key provided. Large private, lighted car parking area.

The house is separated into two wings, where you will find:

West Wing: one twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, one double bedroom and one walk-in shower room with toilet and washing machine; and in the East Wing: one double bedroom, one twin room, one bunk room, a shower room with toilet. 

The the middle of the wings is the large lounge/dining room (books and children's library, CD player, telephone - incoming and local calls only, games), fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. Washing machine.

All accommodation is on the ground floor.

Bed linen and personal towels are provided and pool towels can be hired locally.  Optional end of stay clean available.  Highchair and cot available, free of charge

About our region

The town of Martigné-Ferchaud has some 2700 inhabitants and is characterised by its undulating landscape, diversity of woodlands, lakes and Forest of Araize which spreads over some 1000 hectares.  Small market in the town on a Friday morning.

There is an outdoor leisure based around the 3 km long lake of an old forging mill and offers you a beach, fishing, boat and pedalo hire, adventure playground, walking, bowls and volleyball, something for everyone, right on the doorstep.  The commune also has some 70 kms of hiking trails, for exploring on foot, horse and/or cycle. 

The third week of August every year sees a huge firework spectacle over the lake, which is fireworks to music and dance, with over 250 people entertaining you.

La Roche aux Fees is a mini Stonehenge found along side the road north of Retiers, and you can actually touch the stones.  Marcille-Robert is an attractive village with a large lake, nature house and nature trail.  Chateaubriant is an old market town (markets held on Wednesday).  The chateau dates from the beginning of the 11th century, and part of it now houses the sub-prefecture (governmental administration centre for the area) but the grounds are open to the public free of charge.  It is nice to have a picnic here on he banks of the lake "Etang de la Torche" which is just under the north wall of the chateau.  La Guerche de Bretagne is a small Breton town with plenty of shops and restaurants with some lovely public gardens and children's play area.  There is a market here every Tuesday morning.  Rouge  - at the Parcours des Grees you can play the French version of pitch and putt golf (played with a three sided club!), go-karting, paint ball and hire mountain bikes, as well as learn Archery.  Vitre is an historic old town with many attractive buildings and cobbled streets. Angers huge market here on a Saturday morning for all sorts of items including antiques.
