About our Region

Le Guily is a converted Breton farmhouse set in the heart of Brittany. It is in the département of Morbihan and is just over an hour's drive from both the north and south coasts.

Apart from the beautiful countryside, the local area has many attractions. Set amongst the wooded hills of the Quénécan Forest, Lake Guerledan, with its safe beaches for swimming, also has other water activities, such as canoeing, fishing, windsurfing and cruise boating. Fishing is also available on the nearby river Blavet and the Nantes-Brest canal. There are other leisure facilities in the area, including tennis, golf and horse riding.

Le Guily is situated in quiet rolling countryside, providing safe opportunities for walking and cycling.

The lovely village of Kergrist is one mile away and has a grocers shop, selling bread, 2 bars and restaurants and a church.

The nearest petrol and supermarket are three miles away in the small town of Mur de Bretagne, which also has bakeries, bars, restaurants and a tourist information office. The larger, medieval town of Pontivy is only seven miles away. This bustling market town has twisting old streets contrasting with stately riverside promenades. At the northern end of the town is the Château de Rohan, built by Lord Josselin in the 15th century, which is open to visitors and is used for cultural events.

Getting there

Le Guily is easily accessible from the ferry ports of Roscoff, St Malo, Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre, and from the airports at Dinard and Rennes. It is located off the N164 on a minor road (D81) between the villages of St Connec and Kergrist, which are between Mur de Bretagne and Pontivy. Detailed directions to Le Guily will be sent in the post.
