  Farmhouse and Gite   

Debbie & David welcome you to their holiday complex in the heart of the beautiful Brittany countryside, yet only a short drive from the port of St Malo, the magnificent heritage site of Mont St Michel, the towns of Dinan, Fougères and Dinard and the bustling, exciting city of Rennes.

The Farmhouse offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

The Gîte offers three bedroom self catering accommodation which is comfortably furnished and well equipped.

The Farmhouse – B&B

Ground Floor

The guest lounge was once the “laiterie” with its old milking equipment and the main water supply for the house. Today it provides a comfortable seating area with a settee and chairs for relaxing after a long day.There is a good selection of informative reading material to help you decide where to visit during your stay.

The dining room, once the kitchen and farm workers dining room, has been decorated to incorporate the old with the new. It has “French style” armchairs and hand carved “Breton” furniture.The Aga dating back to the early 1920’s once provided the heating and food for the family Genouvrier, now unfortunately no longer works, but stands proudly awaiting restoration.

First Floor

1 x Double bedroom with shared bathroom comprising bath, shower, hand wash basin and WC.

1 x Twin bedroom with shared bathroom comprising bath, shower, hand wash basin and WC.

For guests on the first floor there is also a separate WC with hand wash basin. 

Second Floor

3 x Twin bedded rooms with private ensuite shower rooms comprising shower, hand wash basin and WC.

For guests on the second floor there is also a separate WC with hand wash basin.

B&B Prices and Booking Information

Prices are per room per night with breakfast included.

For three nights or more a deposit of 25% is required. Deposit to be paid either by sterling cheque or debit/credit card no later than four weeks before arrival. N.B. Payment by credit or debit card incurs a 3% surcharge.

The Gîte – Self Catering (sleeps 6)

Lounge/dining room - is a spacious open plan room with all the comforts of home from home.There is a comfortable leather three piece suite with three seater settee and two armchairs, side tables and coffee table.The "French" oak TV cabinet incorporates a TV with a “Free to Air” box, DVD player and a surround sound system.

In the dining area there is a traditional oak Breton "buffet" with matching table and chairs providing ample seating for six.

The solid oak Breton dresser houses an assortment of games, jigsaw puzzles, DVD’s and books for those quieter days.  There are also a selection of pamphlets and brochures for those wishing to have more knowledge about places to visit in the area.

Kitchen - provides a fully fitted kitchen, with a stainless steel sink overlooking the garden. It is fully equipped with a range of modern appliances, which include a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine fridge, microwave, slow cooker, steamer, food processor and a full set of sharp carving knives. We also provide all the pots, pans, cutlery and crockery that you may need for those evenings that you wish to cook at "home".

Bedroom 1 - is well appointed with a double bed and comfortably furnished with a double mirrored wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables, towel rail, alarm clock and hairdryer. All duvets, pillows, linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided.

Bedrooms 2 & 3 - are well appointed with twin beds.  Both rooms are comfortably furnished with a triple mirrored wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables, towel rail, alarm clock and hairdryer. All duvets, pillows, linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided.

Shower Rooms - all three bedrooms have their own private ensuite shower room, with hand wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and shaver socket.  The state-of-the-art shower cabins are a thrill a minute with the choice of overhead shower, hand shower or multi-jet shower.

A 30% non-refundable deposit is required by return upon booking your accommodation.

The remaining balance is due no later than 8 weeks before arrival.

A £150 security deposit is required to cover breakages and/or damage to the property or inventory.

This security deposit will be returned within two weeks of your departure.

Payments can be made by either a sterling cheque or credit/ debit card.

N.B. Payment by credit or debit card incurs a 3% surcharge.

Arrivals and Departures

Bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday although this can be flexible in the low season – please enquire.

The Gite is available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

Swimming Pool and Gardens at La Chénardais

La Chénardais is set in large grounds of two hectares. This provides a great space for children to play ball games and use up some of that excess energy.

There is a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool for our guests to cool off during the hot summer months. From the pool area, our guests can enjoy the views over the hills, fields and rolling countryside surrounding us.

There is ample space provided to park your car, boat or trailer.

Places to Visit

Cancale - is famous for its oysters.

Combourg - a dedication to the memory of the great writer Francois-Rene Chateaubriand.

Dinan - An ancient walled city overlooking the beautiful Rance Valley.

Dinard - A beautiful coastal town with lovely sandy beaches.

Dol de Bretagne - a medieval town with one of Brittany's oldest houses, the ‘Maison des Petits Palets."

Fougères - This town has one of the best preserved fortifications in France.

Mont St Michel - a World Heritage site and a must for visitors.

Rennes - is the capital of Brittany.

Saint Brieuc – has a port and marina as well as plenty of shops.

Saint Cast le Guildo - is found near Cap Fréhel and Fort Lalatte with its seven sandy beaches and remarkable landscape.

Saint Malo - 80% of this walled seaport was destroyed in World War 2, but has been restored to its former glory.

Vitré - a medieval town with a fortified castle built on a rocky crop.

Local Markets

These are found daily throughout Brittany where you are able to purchase the local fresh produce.

Leisure Activities               

Walking - Brittany has more walking trails than any other part of France and provides an extraordinary variety of landscape and history to enjoy en route.

Cycling - Brittany, with its beautiful unspoilt countryside, little market towns, sleepy villages, quiet country lanes and a spectacular, but varied, coastline in France is the ideal place for cycling.

Golf - There are a good number of golf courses in Brittany all within easy driving distance from La Chénardais.

Karting -Karting can be found at St Meloir des Ondes with the largest circuit in the area.

Ice – Skating - can be found at Le Blizz ice rink in Rennes.

Sand Yachting - can be found at Cherreuix. The large sandy beach provides an ideal place for Sand Yachting.

Beaches - There are a good number of sandy beaches along the coast from St Malo via St Cast le Guildo, past the lighthouse at Cap Frehal and onto St Brieuc.For those wishing to venture into Normandy the beaches at Granville and Jullouville are also good for the family to enjoy a day out by the sea.
