The cobbled streets lined with half-timbered houses date back to the 15th and 16th centuries and will transport you to the glory of bygone days. The shops are still used by craftsmen who, whilst you watch, create in wood, cloth, clay, stone or glass, works of art in keeping with the beauty and essential humanity of the surroundings. In former times, the Clock Tower would sound the alarm, chime on feast days and announce the curfew. Today it watches over the same slate roofs, the same doorways, the same busy picturesque and colourful shopping streets. Walks From the Castle of Dinan it is easy to follow the parapet-way of the ramparts around the town. Most of the wall is sill intact and allows for some picturesque views over Dinan and its surroundings. Not to be missed is the panoramic view over the port and the valley of the Rance from Le Jardin Anglais with its imposing cedars and chestnuts, where one also finds the Saint Sauveur church dating back to the 12th century. Sightseeing Chateau Bourbansais is a must see with its Zoo and parc, as well as visit to the main Chateau itself. Cobac Park is less than 15 minutes from Le Clos du Rouvre and promises a fun filled and active day for all ages. The Grand Aquarium in St Malo is a must see during your stay at Le clos du Rouvre. Less than 30 minutes away, it will offer a great day out, even when the weather lets you down. Mont St Michel is famous the world over and a visit to this famous sight is highly recommended. Less than an hour's drive from Le clos du Rouvre, it offers many things to see and to do; the main street with its shops, the museums, the walk around the ramparts with views out over the sands of the bay, as well as the spectacle of the sea rushing in to surround the Mont at high tide. Many sandy beaches are at 30 to 60 minutes' drive from Le Clos du Rouvre. The coast stretching out along the east of Dinard offers the perfect setting for both a relaxing or active day at the sea. Besides offering the Grand Aquarium, St Malo itself deserves a visit. Still surrounded by the defence wall and ramparts, it offers its visitors quality shopping and restaurants in its medieval setting. The beach is worth a visit where many a yacht and sailboat can be seen passing.
