About our
Region When one sees the beautiful vaulted archways surrounding the central square you can understand why. It is a thriving village supporting all the services you require banks, post office, doctors, butchers, bakers, bars and a wide choice of restaurants. We also have a good sized Casino supermarket and our Thursday village market has been operating for over 750 years! Activities include cycling, tennis, horse riding, golf [9 and 18 holes], canoeing, boat trips and bird watching on the river plus pedalos on a local lake. Lots of events take place in the
region. Monflanquin holds a `mediaeval` weekend in August
- knights in shining armour! The local economy is essentially agricultural, with farmers growing large quantities of maize and sunflowers. The climate also favours the growing of grapes, strawberries, melons, fruits, nuts and tomatoes. The gently rolling countryside is
dotted with 13th Century villages and chateaux and
Monflanquin produces its own Caves des Sept
Monts white, rose and red wines. Sunflowers add a
magical feel to the whole of the Lot & Garonne
region. Our colourful local markets are
always worth a visit. However, why not do what most of
our visitors do - just flop around the pool, relax, and
enjoy our local food and wine. "Many thanks to Pat and Pryce for letting us share your lovely home." - Shirley and Ian Wright "Excellent accomodation. Could not be friendlier. Will be back next year - hopefully for longer." - Mark and Maggie Barnes "This is a great region; we hate to leave.Thank you, Pat and Pryce, for providing such a nice place to stay." - Donald and Cathy Thornton "Too many delights to mention. Some highlights:Lazy afternoons by the pool. Sunsets down the Chemin de Feugnes. Countryside views from the gorgeous garden. Produce in the markets. Monflanquin`s charm." - Jenny and Chris Bagley "Back again after seven years to this wonderful place, Monflanquin. Thank you so much for a great week." - Lorraine Heslip "I have been coming to France since 1965 and this is definitely one of the best places I have stayed at." - Jennifer Sherwood and Mark Bromfield.
