  About our Property

Manoir Caubeyran at almost 500 years old, (1540); is a beautiful, spacious - 420 sq. meters, six bed-roomed, medieval manoir in ancient Gascony.

Captivating and charming, it has everything for that perfect holiday, in the heart of south-west France.

Located in the very centre of Aquitaine, Manoir Caubeyran sits in three hectares of its own grounds, including a swimming pool and a water-garden.

It quietly rests in the hamlet of Monclaritz; overlooking the woods, fields, and vines, of the Lisos valley.

It lies between the two wine villages of Cocumont and Grignols. It is ten minutes from the wonderful bastide-town of Bazas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; twenty minutes from the holiday spa-town of Castlejaloux; and under one hour from Bordeaux.

Accommodation

Manoir Caubeyran has been sympathetically restored, offering all the conveniences of modern living. It retains all its original charm, character, and features; including massive beams, huge fireplaces, original stonework, nooks and crannies etc…There are many beautiful pieces of original art throughout the manoir.

There are six bedrooms, sleeping twelve, plus additional baby-cots. Three of the bedrooms have their own (ensuite) bathrooms, including; bath, shower, W.C.

The manoir is surrounded by three hectares of its own grounds, and reached by a private drive.

Manoir Caubeyran is noted for its stone-cross windows.
The great room features a massive fireplace, beautiful furniture, and pieces of Celtic and Scandinavian art.

The dining room includes earthenware , glassware, and silverware, from Ireland.

There are furniture pieces from France, Ireland, and the Americas.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are light, airy, and understated. They are finished to a fresh clean contemporary style.

There are five bath/shower rooms in total. There are six W.C.

Ground Floor :

The Entrance hall. Restored to original condition with exposed sandstone walls, beams, and staircase. Feature front door.

The Great Room. A very large lounge, with massive beams, and a huge working fireplace.

The Dining Room. Beautifully restored with feature fireplace.

Furnished with a long table and chairs. Perfect for formal or family groups of six to twelve people. Could also be used for small group conferencing, lectures, or business meetings.

The kitchen. Fully and tastefully modernized. Includes a fully installed cooking area, including a dish-washer, and a large family table area.

The Ante-Room. With access to kitchen, side terrace , pool area, winter garden, larder, laundry room, barn and games room.

The Winter Garden. Another huge room with exposed stone walls, ceiling beams, and a feature fireplace. Includes a large dining area, a sitting/reading area, and a large wide-screen television with d.v.d. home cinema.

Bedroom 5. Double Room. One double bed. Full (ensuite) bathroom, including; bath, shower, and W.C. ‘French Doors’ leading to a private shady terrace and a secret garden.

Bedroom 6. Double Room. One double bed. Full (ensuite) bathroom including; bath/shower and W.C.

Shower-room and W.C. Convenient to pool.

A deposit of 30% is required on booking, with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival.

A refundable deposit, against damages, of €1,000 is required prior to arrival.

All prices are in Euro and per week: Reservations run Saturday to Saturday, arriving at 4pm and departing at 10am.

Additional baby-cots provided, just ask!!

Bed Linen and Towels are provided.

A complimentary cleaning service is provided twice weekly.

All heating and energy costs are included.


There are six complimentary adult Bicycles provided for guests use. No hire cost.

The entire property, the manoir and grounds, are at the exclusive use of bookings.

There are no owners, and no other guests on site. There is no need to share the pool or tother facilities. It's all for you!

Satellite television. (B.B.C., I.T.V., Sky News, B.B.C. Radio, Irish R.T.E. Radio)

A private drive, and a secure private car-park for four vehicles.

Quality fixtures and fittings. A large family kitchen including the full range of appliances.

Barbecue and children’s play area.

A secure swimming-pool, (fully fenced).

Sorry, but there is a no pets policy.

A part-time non-resident groundskeeper will attend to the grounds and pool maintenance.

We can also arrange a ‘Meet and Greet’, at Bazas Cathedral.

A complimentary ‘Welcome Basket’ is provided on arrival.

About our region

Manoir Caubeyran, sits in the very center of Aquitaine; at the border of four departments: Gironde, Dordogne, Les Landes, and Lot-et-Garonne.
Resting just above the ancient hamlet of Monclaritz; surrounded by fields and woodland; it is located between the great southern French cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse

It is ninety minutes inland from the oyster beds, giant dunes, surfing beaches, and family resorts of the Atlantic coast.

It is just south of the major waterways of the south of France; the Dordogne, the Lot, and the Garonne, all within one hour; and ten minutes south of the canal, (Rick Stein - French Odyssey).

It is very easily accessed with excellent road links from the ferry-ports; and convenient to the airports at Bordeaux, Bergerac, Toulouse, Pau, and Biarritz


It is within fifteen minutes of the Autoroute (A62), and twenty minutes from the train stations at Langon and La Reole. It is perfectly positioned, to explore ‘Ancient Gascony’, present day Aquitaine, the wines and wonders of Bordeaux, and south-west France.

It is two and a half hours from Lourdes and the Pyrenees, and three hours from Spain..

It is an ideal base for a relaxing and/or activity holiday, combining; walking; cycling; swimming; taking to the spa; touring the local towns, villages, and markets; visiting the vineyards; kayaking the many rivers; golfing, surfing, dining out in a large selection of nearby restaurants and auberges; or just simply doing nothing around the beautiful house and grounds. An eclectic library of over five hundred books is maintained at the manoir for guests.

There are forty-eight golf courses in Aquitaine, and two are within twenty minutes of Manoir Caubeyran (Castlejaloux and Langon).

Getting There

Gironde, in the Aquitaine, is easily reached with superb road and rail transport links from the ferry ports.

In advance of your arrival, to help you make the most of your visit; a Manoir Caubeyran ‘Info-Pack’ will be forwarded, by post, to all guests. This contains regional, wine, and spa brochures, a touring map of Aquitaine, a ‘How-To-Find-Us’ map, a guide to local restaurants, and other Manoir Caubeyran information.

Manoir Caubeyran is only 15 minutes from the autoroute A62.
