Michael and Charmaine Brown are happy to invite you to stay at Le Manoir de Gurson. Le Manoir is a beautiful French manor house, set in nearly 100 acres of rolling countryside, with three well stocked fishing lakes and large wooded areas.

We have a private swimming pool and sun terrace area, with stunning views, and a games room for children.

Le Manoir is developing a challenging 9-hole golf course on the grounds.  Ideal for beginners and experienced golfers, this will be a fun course. Lessons with the local golf professional can be arranged. This is scheduled to open in July 2008.

Fishing

Restaurant Le Manoir

Le Manoir is also a country style restaurant. Our menu contains a range of traditional rustic dishes. We use only

The Region

Perigord is a former province of France corresponding to the current Dordogne départment, now forming the northern part of the Aquitaine région. Itself divided into four regions; the Périgord(s) Noir, Blanc, Vert and Rouge, its geography and natural resources make it one of the untouched regions of Europe, and the newly-formed Parc Naturel Périgord-Limousin aims to conserve it as such.

The Périgord is also the land of 1001 medieval and Renaissance castles along the Dordogne and Vézère rivers such as Losse, Hautefort,  Beynac and Puymartin.

Bergerac is home to beautiful cobbled streets and greenery, as are the smaller towns of Montpeyroux, Montpon, Castillon and Villefranche de Lonchat – all with their restaurants, bars, jazz and blues clubs, classical music events, fairs and festivals, shops and markets. St Emilion, 25kms away is a World Heritage Site.

Being in the centre of the important wine-growing region in France is cause enough to visit, but there are so many other things to do and see.

Lacs de Gurson – purpose built pleasure lake just few minutes walk from Le Manoir de Gurson.

Many theatre, music and film Festivals  in Sarlat, Perigueux, Brive la Gaillarde, castles and beautiful mansions in most of the villages.

There are  golf courses. You can find almost any sport of your choice: horse riding, biking, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, hang gliding, fishing.

Enjoy local food  considered as one of the best of France, excellent restaurants, Wines of Bergerac, Saint Emilion, and  Bordeaux.

In a one day tour you can visit Cahors and the superb Lot Valley or Bordeaux Wine Chateaux: within 1 hour drive you can be In  Saint-Emilion vineyard region, you can visit superb Bordeaux city, Medoc vineyards and Châteaux.

The Vézère valley is richly lined with prehistoric painted caves, troglodytic shelters under the cliffs, and archaeological sites dating as far back as 200,000 BC and further.

The local towns have regular outdoor markets and also offer the modern conveniences of large supermarkets and general modern amenities.

Bergerac – old riverside town offering small shops and boutiques selling regional produce and gifts, al fresco dining in cafes and restaurants, boats trips on the river in traditional gabarres, large shopping centre with supermarket and large stores, weekly markets. Variety of festivals and events throughout the summer.

Sarlat is probably one of the most beautiful medieval towns of France, by day or by night. You can be sure to find a wide selection of cafés with sunny terraces and restaurants offering the best in traditional cooking.

The elegant city of Bordeaux is a splendid mixture of different architectural styles and has plenty of good restaurants, as would be expected in one of France's leading gourmet regions.

Towards the Atlantic coast the Banc d’Arguin sandbank and the Dune du Pyla (the highest sand dune in Europe) are always astonishingly beautiful. The bay is a natural home for birds - especially the Isle aux Oiseaux, a fragile, protected island providing a refuge for dozens of species.
