About
our property La Croix is set at the edge of the village of St Germain de Belves, 700ft above the tobacco and maize fields just to the south of the town Siorac en Perigord which lies on the banks of the Dordogne river. The house is of
stone and consists of two old barns that Ground Floor Entry to the house is through the imposing outer porch with 'french windows' into a very large hall. Leading from this hall are: Two double bedrooms, one with washbasin and razor point, and the triple bedroom. Each room is very tastefully furnished with ample wardrobe space and an unrestricted view out onto the rolling countryside. The main bathroom is close to all the bedrooms and contains a double washbasin, huge mirror, razor point, full sized bath and separate shower plus a heated towel rail. One of the toilets is adjacent to the bedrooms. The nearby utility/games room contains the table tennis, small snooker table, washing machine, ironing board and a double sink. All ground floor rooms have tiled floors. There is a second shower room with a washbasin and adjacent to it the second toilet. First Floor A staircase leads
from the hall up to the living area. At the far end is
the kitchen,
fitted to the highest standards with tiled work surfaces,
double sink, dishwasher, microwave oven, fridge/freezer,
gas cooker with two ovens and an eye level grill. A large
table and sufficient chairs also share that end of the
house. There is a CD/tape player/radio. The imposing stone fireplace dominates the centre section of this floor, providing a log fire in spring and autumn and a focal point with flowers in summer. Grouped here are two comfortable easy chairs and two settees and coffee tables and a corner unit containing books, games, puzzles and magazines. A covered terrace
runs the entire width of the house This terrace catches all the late afternoon and evening sun and is the ideal point from which to enjoy a leisurely evening meal whilst enjoying the panoramic view over the valley towards Belves. On a bright summer's morning, of which there are many in St Germain, it is delightful to use the other open but covered terrace situated above the front porch for breakfast, and gaze out across the fields to the nearby village and plan the day's activities. The outside staircase gives easy access to the car parking, garden and swimming pool. Swimming Pool The private pool,
