is an ancient port on the The residence Cap St Louis, where
the apartments are situated, also comprises a café,
restaurants, tea-rooms, hairdressers and nearby,a
laundrette. Within the complex is a three star hotel,
with its own The apartments overlook the
harbour and port, from which the local fishermen can be
seen unloading their catch to supply the numerous fish
restaurants for which Sète is renowned. Within walking distance is the town centre - with elegant shops and tea-rooms, indoor and outdoor markets, theatres, cinemas, lovely squares and a flower market, blending into a colourful panarama. Cafés, bars and restaurants border the three canals running through this busy town centre. For further information on Séte, please see the website www.ot-sete.fr Rising above the town and Cap St
Louis is Mont St Clair. The walk to the top is rewarded
by a spectacular view of the Mediterranean, the town and
the Bassin de Thau with its famous Bouzigues oyster beds.
For the less energetic there is a bus, and of course, the
car. Passenger and charter sailings are available from
boats on the canals, Travelling further afield, Montpellier is only fifteen minutes by train from Sète. The town has so much to offer that we recommend information should be sought from the Tourist Office. The old Roman town of Nimes is
the origin of a famous textile called 'de Nimes' and now
known as 'denim.' The bull ring of to-day is the most
complete Roman arena in existence, the ancient site of
gladitorial combats and today, still in use on Sundays
throughout the summer for bullfights. Further on still,
are the towns of Arles and Avignon. Other attractions include The
Camargue, world famous for its nature reserve and of
course, the white horses. Beziers, an historical town, dates from the Roman invasion. It was the scene of the wholesale slaughter of the Cathars, a medieval religious sect, by Simon de Montfort, and the site of an old Roman area still used for bullfighting. Further afield is Andorra. The
tiny tax haven deep in the Pyrénées is well worth a
day's outing. Crossing the border into Spain, for maybe
lunch and/or afternoon tea, is also a possibility.
Remember - a Bail Bond is required for Spain! Airports Sete is within easy access of Montpellier (nearest), Carcassonne, Nimes, Perpignan and Marseilles. Car hire is available at these airports. Flights out of the main holiday season are usually cheaper, making this region an attractive proposition for out of season visits. Price APT. B19 - £70,000 UK Pounds/104,000 euros APT.
